Our website offers several languages to make it as easy as possible for all users, their website also? - NO!

Well, we already work on this.

    Zitat

Unlike some other countries, we offer a Comprehensive Copyright Act

Questions not in acts, but on actions. Even then we had direct download links from tg.ru to files from tf.net, we posted links to original file and to author. When you deleted links to our site in repaints, you force your users to violate license, what say "models is free for repaints and reuploads, but only with link to source and name of author".

Well, we already work on this.

Sounds good. Might help to avoid confusions on both sides.

Maybe the Problem is heavily caused on language barriers to. Is there the possibility to users to report content on your website (forum / download area) ?

Maybe we can move the discussion internal (to pn maybe) to not destroy the thread about omichs tool ?

See my previous posts - I use English, unlike some other users. But if You prefer Google Translate - I can write in swedish, polish and belorussian as well.

About Shinikasen - 0815san wrote the point. This mod had been uploaded to You site: http://transport-games.ru/inde…56-shinkansen-500-series/ (You can delete the link - it is just for You to grab attention) - without any permission from author or admin of our site.

We have allerted You. Things were deleted, but the point is why do You repress us? We are not even competitors - Your site is West, ours is East, what is the problem? I can make Tatra T4D tram in 2 (!) days, cause I've already have made Tatra T3 tram, but I don't do this because if I will post it in Your site it would be like a betrayal to our community, and I can't post it in our site due to lack of interested users! But if communities were friends we could help each other, our moders could take part in You dowload and our in the same time without any problems - just with the rule "non-commerce - attribution". What is wrong?!

    Dear Russian friends,

I hope these misunderstandings will be resolved in the near future. I believe there is no reason to hold grudges against each other.

I appreciate your modding effort and I enjoy lots of your mods already. Keep up the great work.

Regarding the train fever patcher: I'm highly intrigued by the possibilities. Is there any way of contacting Omich to ask him for an updated version, which offers the possibility of an additional 3/4 town count multiplier? A multiplier of 1/2 results in to less towns to my liking. A multiplier of 3/4 seems to be the sweet spot. As mentioned in another thread: there is currently a cap of 32.000 people on any TF map. While playing on big map settings this magic number is reached easily with the usual number of around 25 towns.

  • as someone who is modder himself i have to say that i do not agree with the policy of not posting any reference to the russian comunity since they do indeed post references about ours. I don't think this policy is here to protect the interest of our modders rather to protect the site from having "competition" which is unnecessary since both comunitys have quite different mods and interests. I also would like to see this (in my eyes childish) behaviour resolved.
I have gotten permission for doing a repaint of one of alex models (kindly enoght) but i have decided not to release it since it is unfair to not beeing able to give credit. From what i can see i am not the only one who thinks that having this barriar is unecessary. I agree on the Policy that modders should work together insteed against each other.

Oh, it seems I've said it many times already. If we have files from other sites - we already posted source link and author's name. In the end it is good for all: we have translated desctiption of file, site-source have reference link (and users really click it), author of file has increased self-esteem, because his file is popular.
Looks like mods free of charge, we do not steal someone's money, but raise the popularity of file, so what the problem? Free mods - it is good for all, especially for users who can not to create models, but can to create repaints.
Really almost all repaints in your "Multiple unit" section - it is my Flirts, just because it is free. And looks like you deleted almost all links to source here... :D

    upd 16.01:
Just to explain the situation: I in any case do not _upload_ files to our site, I just translate description and post it with link, what redirect users to tf.net. So in _this_ case I really don't see problem, because users in any case download original file. In next post Xanos thought what I reupload files; on the next page we a solved this misunderstanding.

  • I want to declare that I write this message not as a moderator of this forum but as a private person following this discussion and that I do not want to hurt/attack anybody in person with the following:

I am strictly against any kind of "censorship" - also regarding the Russian site as well as I find the discussion childish and uncalled-for!
    However, statements like this:

Looks like mods free of charge, we do not steal someone's money, but raise the popularity of file, so what the problem?

show that you obviously have no idea what the real problem is.
It is not "everything okay" - If you upload files created by other on you website you steal (yeah I said steal) stuff that does not belong to you and that you do not have any licence for. It it simply not allowed to distribute intellectual property of anyone without the consent and in fact you can be sued for this in any country that respects copyright. Of course there is no problem in distributing files if the owner allows is - but if not than you are just not allowed to do it. It does not matter if there is money involved or not. If we have content that links back to the Russian site then it is not a copied file but only mods (e.g. repaints) that are built upon other mods which originally where distributed elsewhere. We would never distribute sole copies of mods that we do not have the copyright for. If you distribute repaints using mods that originally were distributed here, it may be allowed, if the original author of the mod allows repaints to be distributed (as of course the mesh data are still created by the original author).

I really dislike the gap that is driven here between the communities and I really disliked the whole discussion that is going on here. I (for myself) also dislike the practice of censoring links to other modding communities. And I never understood the underlying problem as I was not directly involved in any problems regarding cim|net. However, if you really think that you are doing us (or the modder) a favor by distributing the files unasked on your site and everything is fine just because you backlink - than I have to say: this is simply not the case! And if this is really what you think and/or do, I fully understand the tension that is going on here.

What would be okay is linking to the download page without uploading to tg|ru.
[edit]As I now noticed for my self, at the current state, no files are uploaded to tg|ru, only linked, which is totally fine![/edit]

    To sum up:

    • I do not want to attack anybody in person!
    • It is simply not okay to distribute mods that are not created by them self in any way without consent - backlinking does not change this fact.
    • If no direct copies are distributed in the Russian community, and all tension is only based on things that happened in the past - then I clearly speak against any kind of censorship and I endorse any cross linking between mods from different communities!

So both sides: please make a clear statement regarding the positions!
(Russian side regarding copyright, the German side regarding lifting restrictions for links).

I would love to see that modders can work together in a global scale. But all have to follow the same rules, otherwise, it is not going to work out.
But these are just my two cents...

[edit]As of the current state, tg|ru only links to mods without re-uploading them, which is totally fine by all jurisdictions known to me.[/edit]

  • Zitat

So please make a clear statement regarding the positions! (both sides: Russian side regarding copyright, the German side regarding lifting restrictions for links).

Well, we do not upload any models from here for a long time and will not do this without permission from authors.

At this moment we have 3 files with link to originals:

    TFMM
    http://transport-games.ru/inde…-train-fever-mod-manager/

    BR132
    http://transport-games.ru/inde…ile/425-br-132-232-te109/

    Cargo mod
    http://transport-games.ru/inde…files/file/419-cargo-mod/

For Cargo mod I have permission, BR132 I can delete if you want. About TFMM - it is a very important program for installing mods, but in general I can delete it too. But, well, after update of TF with in-game manager (with USA DLC, if I don't mistake).

About copyrights. The main problem is the difference in mentality, ha. You know, in general for us it is normal - repost any information with link to original.
But, as I say, we will not upload any files without permission from authors, of course.

  • Guys, does it give you so much fun arguing on this theme for ages?
Maybe you shall stop this s#it, and start normal dialogue?
Both sites, absolutely BOTH sites had some problems with content, but it's time to stop this school stylish arguing "he hit me first". Huh, really, are you adults or school children?
