I would like to use the DSM MF diesel trainset in other games. Is there a way to have it separately, not as part of the Nordic DLC?

sure. Look at the mdl of the vehicle (or if it uses a config then start with the lua) to find out what meshes an groups are used. The same with groups. Open the .msh files to find out what material files are used and those.mtl's tell you what textures are used. Copy all those files to an own folder with the same folder structure beginning at res. Put this res folder into another created one and put this one finally into TF's mod folder. Here you can orientate on other mods how to name your lastly created folder and perhaps an info.lua.
That's it. Easy isn't it?
