Is it possible to mod cargo weight into ongoing games?

  • hi there (and sorry for not speaking German). i love the new cargo weight system, but i'm also deeply invested in a sandbox game that i began some time ago. i play really slowly, so ideally i'd like to spend the next few months polishing my transport empire rather than starting a new game and finding myself having to build everything from scratch one more time, possibly taking up a few weeks' or months' time. hence my question.


    i know that by default, cargo weight only works in games started after the usability update, but has anyone checked whether you can mod it into a game that predates that patch? maybe through a script change or savegame edit? i'd love to try it out.

  • Go to this location: ...\SteamApps\common\Transport Fever\res\config and open the base_config.lua with a text editor of your choice, i use notepad++.
    Find those lines and change to true so it looks like this:


    game.config.simulateCargoWeight = true
    game.config.simulateCargoWeightLegacy = true


    Hit save, done :)


    If both are marked as true, weight should be simulated in existing save files.
