ICE 3 from NS hispeed
Yep. Didn't know someone else was doing one though. Oh well. Oct. 18th posted? Quite a while ago.
ICE3 Suspended due to juristic issues? Something with copyright according to the thread. Have there been any updates on the matter? If someone else did this model already and plans to release soon enough, then I'll change mine into something sorta-not-really fictional
ICE?
Just the textures and it is ready for a test release (train wheels are from the TGV)

When are you hoping to release it
No idea :P. As soon as the textures are done I'll do a final check and release. I'm guessing it'll take about 1-2 weeks at the current rate.
Well, the reason why Meister-Zogi and I aren't able to release our ICEs is, that the design (shape and color) of the trains is protected in Germany (and maybe some other countries). We are trying to get a permission form the DBAG for releasing them, but this may take some time.
Since the NS version is only slighly different, it's probably also covered by this design protection, which means you will also have to get a permission, before you can release your train.
There is a very long and very heated discussion about the ICE 3 and laws blablabla already, which has been closed by the moderators of this forum. I personally think that, as long as you do not intend to sell it/make money with it, and don't portray DB or the ICE in a negative fashion, there should not be any problem, since the ICE 3 has been modded over and over and over again by a wide variety of people for a wide variety of games, while you could also argue that a 3D model is the equivalent of a picture, blablabla, insert endless arguments and counter arguments here.
Note that German laws probably do apply to everywhere in the EU, since stuff like this is sent to the EU patent office. But I think that the DB has better things to do than hunt down modders for them making fan work of the ICE 3. But then you never know with laws and regulations, since laws and regulations don't apply if you have a lot of money, insert endless philosphical blablabla here. And if they hate you/want to screw you over, they will always find a way to do so, no matter if you adhere to the rules or not. That's just today's society, and the vagueness of the copyright law enables them to do so.
but this is my personal opinion.
And if you are unsure you can always mod one of the ICE knockoffs in China, since those are not ICE, and Chinese don't care about the copyright laws anyway since they copied it (and virtually anything else) themselves. I have posted some examples of the Chinese bullet train in the ICE 3 thread in case you are curious.
The Chinese train is build from Siemens, too. So the rights of the design should be the same.

For your information, here is my original post where I discuss this.

Love it, the only downside is the panthograph. but you can't chache that in a repaint
And also the flipped texture
You are now able to download the OV-Chipkaart Virm Edition here: NS VIRM - OV Chipkaart Edition
I will now start on the A naar B and Groene Stroom version

Would a solution for the NS - ICE3 issue be to rework it into the China Railways CRH3? It's the same platform, yet manufactured in China. Plus, its official name is the Velaro CN, based on the Velaro platform used by Deutsche Bahn AG, RZD and Spanish National Railways (Renfe). I think that the legal protection on the ICE brand only extends to the brand itself, thus nullifying the approval of DB AG being needed. Secondly, Siemens only has legal claims to parts of the design considering how Chinese joint-ventures work regarding intellectual property. As it stands, Tangshan Railway Vehicles is building the Velaro CN, so there's that.
I understand that for my Dutch friends, seeing the ICE3 drive around with the NS logo would be stellar, but I (personally) would think it's more fun to have another real life high-speed train rather than having to rework it into a fictional ICE-but-not-really-please-don't-sue-DB/Siemens. It's just my two cents.
