    Here's my latest video. It is best viewed at 1440p or above.


    On the plus side. It is a 2 hour scenic tour viewed from the cockpit of a locomotive. And it has a large amount of scenery that is both busy and interesting.


    On the negative side. There is more stutter than there should be. Unfortunately I don't know when to stop when adding things to the map.:)

    When traveling in cockpit view. There is text at the bottom of the screen. One of the lines of text shows where the train is heading to next. And will say something like "Heading for New York Central" if the next station in the line is called New York Central.

    Unfortunately this text ignores all waypoints and only show the next station in line. Is there anyway to force the game to update the "Heading for ..." text to include waypoints? If anybody has any ideas. I'd be interested in hearing them. If it ends up requiring modding. I'm up to that.

    Just to be clear I basically want to change the "Heading for ..." at the bottom of the screen at numerous locations without stopping the train. And waypoints are the only way I could think to do it. So I either need to find a way to make waypoints change that text. Or else find another way to solve the problem without using waypoints. Any ideas?


    I should probably mention that this is for cosmetics only. I'm getting ready to create a cockpit view video and the theme is a scenic tour. The line takes over 50 minutes of real time to travel both ways. And it only has a station at either end. I placed waypoints at various places along the line with names that describe upcoming views. Unfortunately as I explained before. They do not change the text at the bottom of the screen.

    I was wondering if anybody could help me with this. How do I change the width of the railroad ties via a script file? By width I mean the short dimension. Not the long dimension. I want to have less space between the rail ties.


    With TF1 I was able to do this by creating a mod and overwriting the lua script files in res \ config \ track. By changing the value of t.sleeperLength in high_speed.lua I could increase the width of the rail ties for high speed tracks. Unfortunately this doesn't work for TF2. When I change the value it does nothing.


    If anybody has any suggestions or ideas. They would be greatly appreciated.

    I discovered how to do what I wanted and posted it on here some time ago but I just noticed for some reason it never showed up.


    Basically I did what I think you suggested. I added a modified copy of the car's mdl file to the bus folder. I never did anything like that before on Transport Fever so it was all new to me. So I didn't know where to start when I posted the question.

    As the title says. Is it possible to mod cars so that they can be used with lines?


    I'm getting ready to make a map solely for the purpose of creating a video. I would like to have more control over the cars that are normally driven by the "people" in the game. So I would like to create lines similar to bus lines and assign specific cars to them. Is this possible? If it is possible then any help would be greatly appreciated.

    I just posted this on another forum and then it occurred to me that it might be a good idea to post it here. I'd be interested in hearing people's opinion on the subject.


    I recently bought a VR headset and I'm blown away by it. So I naturally started thinking of the possibilities for VR in Transport Fever. I know what most of you are probably thinking - Transport Fever is not a game that would translate well into VR. And I would agree with you for the most part. The current VR technology causes eye strain. Especially when displaying small text. So a game like Transport Fever where a person often plays for a long time at one sitting wouldn't work.


    BUT what would be awesome would be a VR viewer built into Transport Fever 2. That way you could build your current railroad creation using a monitor (not VR) and then pop on the VR mask at any time and jump INTO your creation.


    That would also mean that people could build a custom saved game. Then assuming the file size can be kept small enough the person could upload it so that other people could use it with their VR sets. Think about it. Instead of viewing someone's video of a highly detailed freight yard in action as you can do now you would actually be in the middle of it.


    The VR viewer could be as simple as having a platform to stand on along with some standard move, turn and teleport options. You would also need a play/pause button and a elevator type control. There would also need to be a few tools for the scenario creators such as specifying the starting point of the person viewing the scenario. Map size and total units on the map might have to be limited for VR so there might need to be a tool to handle those things.


    I think the possibilities would be awesome. It would give individual gamers the ability to create VR railroad scenarios.


    I could see one argument might be why waste time on a VR viewer when there are other things more important to the game. In my opinion a VR viewer would probably help sell more games because it would introduce the game to VR users who never knew it existed. So it wouldn't "cost" anything to add it. I could even see places like railroad museums offering this for visitors. Which would be great free publicity.


    Well if any of the developers look at this thread. I hope they agree with me. :)

    This is a video created using the game Transport Fever. You are riding in a General Electric EMD GP40-2 Locomotive. The entire video is in cockpit mode.


    The map used to create this video is very active and includes a lot of interesting scenarios. Included in the map are large cities, several freight yards, an operating quarry, a scenic lake, and a lot of traffic with large ships, a busy airport, and various road vehicles. And of course trains, trains, and more trains!


    This video uses a large number of mods. Thank you for the mod makers who make Transport Fever a better game!
