At the beginning of 1934, the RZA wrote out an order for the design of a 1'D locomotive with an axle load of 18 t and a top speed of 90 km/h. Ultimately, five designs were submitted. Of these, the BMAG's proposal was convincing. After some adjustments, among other things regarding the interchangeability of individual components with other standard locomotives, BMAG began construction at the end of 1934. In December 1936, the two prototypes 41 001 and 41 002 were completed and delivered in January 1937. These locomotives could pull a freight train of over 2000 t at 50 km/h on the flat, but were also able to pull a 800 t passenger train at 90 km/h or more. The heavy performance meant that in 1946 only 28 machines were operational. Since these locomotives were also irreplaceable in the future, the DR set about repairing the locomotives from 1951 onwards. 112 locomotives should be thoroughly overhauled. However, the problems with the old boilers should continue to concern the DR. Overall, hardly any changes were made to the locomotives compared to the DRG. So many drove with Wagner smoke deflectors for a long time.", ["maikc_e06_dr_2_desc"] = "All 112 locomotives remained in the DR's inventory until the 1960s. In 1970, however, the inventory fell to 89 units due to problems with all variants of the 41 series. Since the problems with the old boiler could hardly be solved permanently, the DR decided to install new boilers as early as 1955. In 1957 only 23 new boilers could be delivered. The performance of the slightly differently designed boilers corresponded to that of the old boilers. After 1970, only a few locomotives with old replacement boilers were still in use. The locomotives with new boilers were also partly taken out of service due to damage, but efforts were made to quickly install the functional boilers in locomotives that had previously been running with old-design boilers. Numerous locomotives were already decommissioned in the 1970s. The last two were shut down in 1980.", ["maikc_e06_dr_3_desc"] = "Since in 1957 30 of the 112 locomotives that were urgently needed were parked due to a defective boiler, the class 41 and other types of locomotives were included in the reconstruction program. In 1959 the first locomotive was fitted with a reconstructed boiler. By 1960, 80 locomotives were ultimately reconstructed. The boilers were fully welded. In addition, it was designed in such a way that it could also be fired with lignite. Thanks to the new boilers, the locomotives were able to match the performance of the old 41s despite the lignite. Fired with hard coal, the performance of the Reko boiler would probably have exceeded that of the new DB boiler.", ["maikc_e06_dr_4_desc"] = "The stock of the 41 with Reko boiler remained constant until the early 1970s, but this changed after 1977 when these locomotives could only be repaired if necessary. Intermediate controls were made again and many 41s were still on the road until the mid-1980s.
