Es klingt ein Glöckchen anbedacht,
es läutet warm und helle.
Schnee rieselt in der Weihnachtsnacht,
doch da schwenkt schon die Kelle.
Ein Polizist grinst breit herein,
verlangt nach den Papieren.
"Herr Wachtmeister! Sechs Gläschen Wein!
Was soll da schon passieren?"
Die Engel singen Weihnachtslieder
und preisen allen Menschen Glück.
Den Führerschein krieg' ich nicht wieder,
mein Wagen bleibt im Schnee zurück.
Und die Moral von der Geschicht',
das sag' ich noch mal warnend:
Die Polizei tut ihre Pflicht,
das auch am Heilig' Abend.
