Hi, completely forgot to reply. Your suggestion fixed the issue! Weird how it even became an issue. The only thing now is any track placed while the issue was ongoing has to be replaced otherwise I still cannot snap track together. Newly placed track allows me to. Thanks!

Hi all, hoping someone might have a solution to this issue. At some point recently the game stopped allowing me to snap parallel tracks together. Usually when snapping tracks the ballast between them is level, but when I try snapping together two lines now, there is a clear drop in ballast height, indicating something is wrong. The tracks also place far too close to each other. This I could live with for the most part, but more than anything it is effecting my tunnel construction. It does not recognize that tracks are snapping together and as such gives me collision errors when trying to make tunnels at least 2 tracks wide. I have not modified any scripts in any way. but I do have a number of mods, though I don't recall downloading any mods that would affect track around the time the error began happening.

Included are two pictures. The first shows what happens when I try and build tunnels. The second shows when I try and and snap track. On the left side of the image it shows track that was properly adjoined before the issue began, and the small length of track on the right shows the gap and reduced spacing that occurs when I try and connect lines together now.

Thanks for any time taken to look at the thread and look forward to seeing if anyone has a solution, as this is game-breaking to me.

I would definitely be interested in this mod. As someone who is trying to model an accurate looking British scenario, the heavily European style buildings are keeping it just from where I want it to be. I could also try some modeling some buildings potentially if I have time, if that's of interest.

    Hi guys,

I wanted to ask if this was already an existing mod, or whether it'd be easy to do if not.

I love the British Gresley A3 & A4 loco models in the game, but I number my engines accordingly. So if I had an engine that was numbered '60163' (the Tornado's assumed British Rail number), and named it 'Tornado', but the engine still has '4472' and 'Flying Highlander' on the model, it just takes away from the immersiveness in a way, as petty as it sounds. I'd much rather have 'blank slates' that don't have numbers or names. The A4 'Mallard' doesn't have numbers if I recall, but it does have a name plate. I might want to give my A4s multiple names (and I know there are A4 name variations), but I wanted to know if there is a mod where all of these are removed.

    Thanks in advance! :D

    Hi guys, just a quick question;

I think I've seen somewhere that there is a mod for a version of the vanilla station models that don't include the buildings or platform shelters, so they are literally bare platforms. If it exists, would someone be able to point me in the right direction?

    Thanks

    Thanks for the replies guys!

So what would I change this to for a track asset? "asset/ground" or something? I tried changing it and dragging my file into it, pressed "enter" and nothing happened. :\

I don't get a .exe file, only a 'visual studio' file which I cannot open. I'll attach a screenshot of the folder.

I have tried both of the methods presented, and apparently I am terrible at this file working kind of stuff :D

    Looking forward to hearing back!

    Thanks

    Hi guys,

I am wondering if someone can help me. I am playing on a large save at the moment.

It also crashes when I open the station upgrade dialogue and increase/decrease the number of tracks, and that's on the standard 1850 station model so I doubt it's to do with mods. With both crash instances the last line in the crash-dump files is the same.

    c:\build\transport_fever\steam\transport_fever_release\src\lib\ecs\engine.h:264: int __cdecl ecs::Engine::GetComponentDataIndex(const class ecs::Entity &,int) const: Assertion `it != components.end()' failed.

    Anyone know what this means?

    Thanks

    Hi there,

I am starting to attempt modding for Transport Fever. I know there is a wealth of information on this page, but as most of it is in German, I am not able to browse as freely as I'd like. I was hoping someone who can explain in English might be able to help.

I am modeling in 3DS Max to begin with. I am making a station canopy asset that can snap onto railway track. To have this work in the game I'd imaging you'd have to place this over track, delete the track, and then build the station in the same alignment so that the canopy appears over the station itself.

I understand there is a train fever converter that will convert .obj files into .msh.blob files, but again, most of the pages I have seen on this are in German. I can open the .cmd file, but I have no idea where to go from there as I can't understand the instructions.

After this, editing the text files will be my next hurdle I guess, but for now I am keen to know how to get this into the game.

I have attached some images of the very rough model I have made as a demonstration. I'd plan to make many variations of this. It is built to real-world scale. (Another issue is figuring out how wide it should be over stations.

Appreciate any help anyone can offer.

    Thanks

I'll have to look up how to do that. There are assets I'd like to make too such as modular station roofs, as well as making stations without platform canopies so that these can be applied better.

The model above is broken down into a few parts; platform (though I was thinking of splitting this up into smaller parts), the two separate buildings, two lamp posts, 5 sections of the roof, and the stairway up to road level. I figured I could unwrap them much easier as separate pieces and then attach them after, though I'm not sure of how this works within TPF. I was looking to import an existing station model and work around that and attempt to edit code and stuff where I needed to, but that seems like a challenge also.

My eventual dream would be to have different options for the station construction. Options for more than one island, multiple story buildings, overall roofs, access from either road level, below rail level or from a footbridge that leads to a road level station building or building at same as track level. That would be a nightmare to configure though I fear...

The most annoying thing I have encountered with assets so far is that none seem to be able to applied to station track. The only work around I have found is to build the track, snap assets to it, delete the track and then build the station to the same alignment. Is there a way to snap assets to stations?

Shall see about importing it into TPF first as an asset rather than a functional station and go from there as you say.

    Thanks for your reply! :)

Had a quick play around with a model (a friend made the basic and I edited it where it needs to be). Unwrapping it and making materials isn't an issue, and I could do the different LOD's, but I've no idea about how to start implementing it into the game, setting up where the rails go, adding road connections, assigning where passengers stand etc.

Is it as hard as it seems?

Let me know your thoughts on whether this would work in-game.

    Thanks

Yes, that is what I was talking about. An elevated station that sits above ground level with the rails passing over the road that is also at ground level. I think an option for this as well as the opposite would be great. You are right, an older station style would be fantastic, because most stations that have this option are modern and frankly that doesn't interest me.

I've just noticed that your idea was similar to the one I just posted in terms of an elevated station with road access below and rails over top. It would be great to have this as well as a station at ground level that is accessed from above via a stairway down. I wonder if it could be done. I love that station you demonstrated. Not seen it before and it's really quite charming! :) Best of luck!

    Hi guys,

I suppose this is as much a feasibility study as a request. I was wondering if it would be possible for there to be a station model where the platforms and tracks are kind of 'inverted'. Say if you had two tracks and a platform either side, would it be possible to make it so that those platforms were both in the middle, forming a wider platform with the tracks on the outside, forming what they call an 'island platform'. With more tracks added to add as loops or sidings, they simply expand outward from the tracks either side of the central platform.

I would love for there to be a small building on the platform such as the smallest version of the 'orange brick British style station'

As for pedestrian access, I guess a footbridge could be used, but ideally It'd be awesome if it there were a couple of options such as:
    1) hooked onto a road bridge over top, so the pedestrians would access the station via an entrance on the bridge, down a flight of stairs and onto the platform.
    2) a road connection underneath the station. with there being a subway on the platforms that takes the pedestrians down onto a road below the track level via a brick arch or something similar.

My main inspiration is the style of stations used by the 'Great Central Railway'. I think they'd bring something really quite different to the game.

I'll attach some rough illustrations to show what I mean.

Example of how the access below road level could look: https://www.flickr.com/photos/…/album-72157687941513193/

There are also some questions I have about connecting multiple station models to form a larger station but I'll leave those until another day.

Let me know what you think!

    Thanks!

    Hi all,

I am currently doing a standardised layout of Britain's railways from all of the 'Big Four' companies. One thing I have noticed about the available assets however, is just how European the station buildings look. I have a few 'British' looking stations from the steam workshop, but nothing that really screams 'this is British!' to me. One thing I would love to have that would immensely help this would be station roofs and canopies. A vast amount of stations in the history of Britain's railways have had over-all roofs. Whether these be double or single vaulted or pitched, they held that look that really said 'this is a British railway station.

When there were no large roofs, there were traditional platform canopies with 'dagger-boards' around them. These were usually pitched, or angled structures held up by cast iron posts, and look far different from the standard 'v' shaped canopies that appear on the platforms in the game.

I would like to know if it is possible or if anyone would be interested in making a mod where these could either be new versions of the stations with the roofs/canopies attached, or whether they could be made as an asset that can be positioned over stations (whether snapping would work or not on station track, or even if it could with with 'curved stations' is another questions). I haven't seen any objects that can be snapped to station tracks. It would be awesome if the canopies could be placed at either end of the exterior of the overall roofs too.

Even as another option, to have some type of 'platform building' such as waiting rooms between platforms, with canopies attached to the walls, but I doubt the platforms of the standard station models are wide enough for that.

My ultimate desire is for there to be some purposely made British station styles that were typical of each company....but that's for another day. I'd settle for roofs and canopies for now. I would make these myself, and while I do a lot of 3d modeling, I have nowhere near the skills needed to put these into Transport Fever with the materials etc. It would be awesome if these could either be sectional pieces that can snap on next to one another for a custom length or a full length piece.

    To summarise:
-Either sectional or full length assets (that might be snapped to platform track or placed over stations, of station roofs consisting of: vaulted (semi-cylindrical) or pitched (two flat sides, raised in the middle like an inverted 'V') These could also be placed over standard track if needed.
-The same, but with platform canopies.
-Either assets, or 'edited' station models that include these, as they could clash with existing station models with European canopies.
-Optional with platform buildings that could be placed on platforms too.

I'll attach some photos as references that I could find quickly.

Or if there is anything like this out there (trust me I have spent a lot of time looking, but so many mods are in other languages it's hard to navigate), then I'd appreciate being sent in that direction. I would hope I am not the only one who would wants mods like these.

How would one go about creating these?

    Hopefully someone can help!

    Thanks!
