Sometimes it is very helpful to change the landscape to permit ships to cross a peninsula. The problem at the moment is that it is too fiddly to create a canal or sea-route using the brush. You try, but the passage is too narrow or not deep enough.

A tool should be included where you are able to "draw a line" on the map, across some land, and that is where a navigable water route will appear.

On a related topic, the same brush ought to be able to "raise the bridge", so that ships can pass under low bridges across water.

    Heightmaps belong here:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\<steam userid>\1066780\local\heightmaps

Thanks, Yoshi. I tried that. There was surprisingly nothing in that folder. I tried putting those two files into it, and restarting Steam/the game, and they were still not found. I tried again putting them into a folder and then into the folder you suggested, and that didn't work either.

    This game is amazing.

Unfortunately, it is too complex and difficult to create and import a real world map into the game. I hope the developers put some energy into making this process easier and more fun.

The game doesn't recognize them. It is as though they do not exist. I expect that they won't work too, but maybe somebody can get them to work.

They are in a folder in

    \steamapps\common\Transport Fever 2\maps

I tried to find the correct folder by looking for other maps but couldn't find any! :/
