Here's what I'll do. I'm gonna go back to a point before I started matching my point positioning and and I'll promise you I will never look at any of your/Ragnos models again for learning, referencing or matching.

Here's a video with some process explanation:
-
RaptorArk; hold your horses man, that's easily explained.
My plans actually started as an idea to do a repaint. Upon playing with that for a bit and finding out that both trains are actually quite different I thought "might as well do the whole thing", which is where the project took off.
When I started the modelling project I was looking into other mods and used a number of them as studycases. That is, I looked at the Trenitalia mod (obviously), the ICE1/2 mod and the Siemens C2 mods. Mainly to figure out how it's all pieced together, how the animations work, and to get the scales right.
As for the Trenitalia mod, aside from studying the workflow, I used it mainly for comparing and matching the initial dimensions and scales. A few considerations here that overlap with each other.
-difficult to find comprehensive info on bodywork dimensions for as far as I could find.
-most photos I could find are at odd angles.
-a desire for my ICNG version of the Alstom Coradia Stream to be a close match so they wouldn't look shit when next to- or coupled to each other.
I will have used some point snapping there to align my first mesh with the main dimensions. The window widths and spacing for example, but also height and width dimensions, which will explain the precise matches. And the arc above the wheels on the front as well I believe. That was actually the point (no pun intended), to match them very closely. But not a single polygon in my model came from your model, they were all modelled anew.
Basically, I used the Trenitalia mod extensively to research this process, and for size and scale matching. That is the case, but I did that with my own models first, and then aligning them to make sure they match nicely.
As for the sound script, I used that as a template but (thought) I removed all of your sounds. Replaced them with my own sounds (doors, horn, etc. and replaced other sounds with ones from the game (breaking, wheel squeaking). I don't think I left any from the Trenitalia mod inthere. The frenata one I'm not using (should have removed it).
I'm actually still figuring out the fine details of sound modding (mainly the pitch and volume timings seem difficult to nail, but I think I'm starting to understand it). I'm going to give that another pass on the weekend when I have time to dive into it as I really want to get this down and match the ICNG acceleration sound more exactly.
Other than that, that script looks like it follows the exact same template as so many others so I didn't really think anything more of it, after making sure to replace the sound files.
Hope that helps put you at ease. -
Sir Ludicrous I have slipped the UV maps into the mod folder, for any repaints you might want to do. If you navigate to the textures you should find a folder called "for_repaints"

It also has an image of the train consists and how I designated the carriages, as well as a little readme file to make sense of it. Hope that helps get things up to speed.

Big thank you to everyone who provided advice, support, encouragement and made good suggestions during the production of this mod. It is much appreciated ❤️

My ICNG mod is now available on the workshop!

These so called "Fake versions" are easier to assemble than you might think!
All you really need is a mesh for a lowered pantograph, which you already have (i think).
Then you simply make new .mdls with the following changes:
All pantos are lowered, no light meshes are present, reduce power and speed to very low values (something like 100kW and 20km/h)
these last two are simply meant to make the train significantly cheaper, which is only fair if its meant to just stand around anyways
EDIT:
i forgot to mention the other changes
preventing door animations is absolutely not necessary. suppressing the soundset is a good idea, but that is also next to no work to implement
Yes, I did say it's not a lot of work. I don't have a mesh exported with only a lowered pantograph. It's one lowered and one raised panto combined, so I'd have to open Houdini and swap the raised pantographs for the lowered ones, and export it as a new mesh. Not a biggie, but additional work that I will put on the backburner until after the mod with its current contents is public. It's my first ever mod for TPF2 so the whole thing has been a ginormous learning curve and I find that some things I would do differently next time, such as not combining pantographs. At first I didn't realise I could just add multiple instanced of it into one .mdl file.
Then in the model editor I'd have to remove the train driver, the light meshes and adapt the sound set to remove motor sounds. Altogether I'm sure it would cost me a half day to do, and right now I really want to get this baby onto the Workshop. The mod is done btw. I'm working on small details such as images for the workshop and getting all the names and descriptions right.

GameWulf This will be uploaded to the Steam Workshop.
Treinspotterlars making that "dead" version is possible but it would require me to make a few model tweaks and do new mesh exports, after which I'd have to make a few changes in the model editor as well. For now I want to get this mod published with the versions I currently have. I'd be happy to look into your request a bit further down the line.

The menu looks very good! I have a tip tho: Can you name it just “NS ICNG” instead of “NS ICNG 3100 Series”? Also, i do like it this way, instead of a lot of tabs for all the different liveries. Then i’d have to search trough my list of 100+ trains 🙃
Yes, that's one of the changes I have to make to the mod regarding texts and descriptions.
I suppose the main entry will be called something like "NS ICNG / Alstom Coradia Stream" or maybe just "ICNG" 🤔
Then each particular train set will have its unique designation, and I will probably add the amount of cars too. So something like NS ICNG 3100 (5-car), NS ICNG 3200 (8-car), NS ICNG 3300 Flow (8-car), ICNG Fyra (8-car), ICNG Factory Black (5-car)/(8-car), ICNG Alstom Coradia Concept (5-car, recolourable)/(8-car, recolourable).

Your progress is absolutely stunning!

I wanted to quickly suggest something for the Fyra livery (and maybe also the recolourable version):
The black band that goes over the windows, id suggest interrupting this band on the doors and giving them a black outline instead. Its a modern design standard for better visibility that is sometimes even required by law.
Ill attach an image:I'll keep the current Fyra livery as I really quite like it. I love it when trains have a long continous look to them. The original Fyra doesn't have those black door borders either, but yeah the ICNG does have door borders, so I get where you're coming from with this.
So, what I'll do is, I will include the UV maps for the models, and am happy for people to do repaints, so if you want to have a go at it yourself then please do. You said before you know how, right? Otherwise I could record a little explainer on how it works, just let me know.
I would also be open to doing it myself later, but for now I want to get all the current versions looking nice and clean, and publish the mod before I add anything more. It wouldn't be a huge task tbh, but I'm trying to stick to publishing this thing before the end of the month. I'm hoping Sunday, but that depends on how I get on with the sounds. I might ask you for help if I can't get it working the way I want but I really want to have a play with it myself. Might trade you for the Fyra livery suggestion 😋

I've just finished getting the recolourable variant working properly. So the white "Concept" variant will be recolourable, and is available as a 5-car and 8-car set. The video below shows me changing the colours on the vehicle, so you can see what you can expect.

This is what the buy menu will roughly look like. There will be a single main menu entry for the ICNG/Alstom Coradia Stream mod, and then each variant will be listed inthere. Just keep in mind I still have to do some clean-up on the names of each set, and make a "multi train" menu item for the main list (currently only showing the standard ICNG version).

Fyra reskin is now also done. Moving on to improving the sound effects

Thanks Lars. Yes, this will be the last repaint for the mod pre-release. More can potentially be added after release. After this I want to focus on the sound effects, which is the last thing on my to do list.
I'm OK with Fyra pictures, but thanks for the offer. There is quite a lot to be found online. I have a plan for the paint scheme according to the original Fyra colour scheme, which I just have to execute.
-
On to the last skin for this train. This one is a little trickier as I have to match the lines across the carriages, which needs a bit of "trial and error" to get right. But hopefully I can get it done by the end of Friday so that on Sunday I can focus on the sounds, and potentially publish the mod to Steam. No promises, but it's getting close

I've figured out how the recolouring works. I will need to generate some proper maps for that, but at least that mystery is now resolved.
I'm also beginning to get a grasp on how to properly design the sound effects, but that will need further reading and a fresh head. I'm quite tired (work is very busy atm) so I figured I'd move on to the next reskin which is easier. All moving forward nicely. A little update below:
-
Treinspotterlars Yes I do intend to make a Fyra repaint as well.
Sir Ludicrous I was planning to include the UV maps along with the mod so anyone who wants to do repaints can do so accurately. I would encourage anyone who wants to have fun with this mod, to do so!
-
Alright, so I've now also got the unbranded (neutral) livery based off of the Alstom concept art. I want to make this train recolourable (the white areas) so users who don't want the NS logos and colour scheme, can still enjoy the mod and give it a colour that fits better with their in-game company colour scheme. Below are some screenshots of the in-game test run, and a video, of this variant. I did both the 5 and 8 car sets.

oppie I love your mods mate. I use the Dutch modular station EVERYWHERE. I even went in and made sure my ICNG mod fits the platforms of your mod 😎
And let me share some thunder so there's enough for everyone to go around 😉
