Der idyllische Fluss bei Hennersdorf war nicht immer ein Idyll. Einst war es Grenzfluss zweier nicht-gut-miteinander-Kirschen-essender deutscher Kleinstaaten. Die Reste der zum Schutze Hennersdorfs und der Grenze errichteten Zitadelle sind auch heute am Stadtrand in der Landschaft noch deutlich zu erkennen.
Die militärische Bedeutung hat die Stadt Hennersdorf noch nicht ganz eingebüsst, was man an der im Hintergrund sichtbaren "von Rambow Kaserne" sehen kann. Einst für die Herzöglichen Hoffüsiliere errichtet ist dort jetzt das drölfte Kampftrinkerregiment stationiert.
