Das Team der Transport-Fever Community
Another shot of the Great Northern's newly built station on the line to Northampton. It basically sits in a hole in the ground, the city built up around it. The line sitting above it is that of the Great Eastern Railway's that takes passengers from Chelmsford into Luton, soon to be extended to Norwich further up the Anglian mainline. The Great Northern used to share this station, with a short branch heading down to King's Cross. To be more economical and draw wider crowds, the GNR decided to build a new station on the through line between King's Cross and Northampton. That station was Highgate, which also now allows goods traffic to speed through the middle sidings. Of course all this history is fictional, but it's all based on reality.
