The Standard Class 7, known as the 'Britannias', was British Rail's effort to combine the best locomotive design aspects from the 'big 4' pre-nationalisation British railway companies. They were fast and powerful, suited to both passenger and freight work. They were well liked by their crews.
55 were built, 2 survived into preservation, including no. 70000 'Britannia', the first of her class.
