  • Water Textures - Natural Water Surfaces (game: Transport Fever 2; mod version: 1.3; released on 05.11.2022)


    In September 2020, WernerK introduced the idea of applying water textures to paintable streets, making it easier to create rivers, for example.

    Now the idea of WernerK is realized in the water textures mod in collaboration with him. So WernerK created waterways (streets with water textures) and provided them to me for integration into my mod. Thanks! For the waterways, among other things, he came up with a special pattern for how the water textures should be displayed on the waterways, which is done in a checkerboard pattern. Similar to what I did for the water textures, I also added mod settings for the waterways that allow, for example, the selection of water textures for the street surfaces.

    By the way, despite the predefined water textures, the waterways can be painted over in the game.

    Changes in version 1.3

    • added 24 streets as waterways in the form of 8 kits, each with three different widths
      • each street has 2 water textures arranged in a checkerboard pattern
      • various properties of the streets can be adjusted via the mod settings, the mod settings always affect several streets at the same time:
        • enable/disable/enable and hide street kit
        • water textures per street kit
        • maximum speed per street width
        • vehicles allowed per street width (this setting may have another effect than expected)
        • factor for max. gradient per street width
        • build steps (for the adjustment of the slope during construction) per street width
      • via the alternate mod settings the street properties can be adjusted for each street individually
      • new settings options available only in the alternative mod settings:
        • displayed unit of measurement for the speed values in the water textures mod settings (km/h, mph, kn)
        • unit of measurement for converting the set speed for the streets (mph, kn - default are km/h)
      • added icons to show slope when building streets and tracks (this may affect icons from other mods, so pay attention to mod loading order if needed)
    • output of warning messages changed
      • warning messages are cached and issued only after loading a savegame - this prevents duplicate messages
    • improved descriptions for water textures in paint tools and mod settings
    • added own category in the paint tools for water textures
    • added icons for water textures in the paint tools
    • added new relozu_strings.lua file for translations
    • script optimizations
    • fixed a bug that could cause incorrect warning messages when using the alternative mod settings

    I would like to emphasize that for better clarity mod settings have been created only for groups of waterways (some for complete waterway sets -> 3 waterways each and others for the widths -> 8 waterways each). Only the alternative mod settings (extra_mod_settings.lua) can be used to adjust each waterway individually. Please also see the mod description for more details.

    Why did the update take two years?

    On the one hand there were interruptions in the development, on the other hand the development process was indeed very time-consuming (without wanting to emphasize it).


    In the meantime, even mods from other modders have been released, with which water can also be simulated. In connection with this, new ideas and approaches have been developed to make water more realistic, but such ideas and approaches have not yet been implemented in the water textures mod. Further updates in the future are therefore conceivable.

    Car Trailers (game: Transport Fever 2; mod versions: 1.3-1.5; released 28.05.2022-19.06.2022)


    Three updates for the car trailer mod have already been released in May and June, but the last two updates were mainly for bug fixes and optimization of the mod.

    The first update in May added a moving car with car trailer (technically two cars with car trailer: one for the individual traffic, the other for the player). A few mod settings were also created for this purpose:

    • car with car trailer for individual traffic:
      • enable/disable vehicle
      • maximum speed
    • car with car trailer for the player:
      • activate/deactivate vehicle
      • transport capacity (goods)
      • transport capacity factor (goods)
      • transport capacity (people)
      • transport capacity factor (people)
      • maximum speed
      • enable/disable opening/closing animations
    • force language for certain UI elements
    • tagging car trailers (originally appeared as an uninstall help and now made possible to turn on/off).

    Changes in the individual versions

    1.5 (19.06.2022)

    • compression of several textures optimized and thus reduced memory requirements
    • texture for the platform of the car trailer slightly adjusted

    1.4 (18.06.2022)

    • added more sounds for the car with car trailer - the new sounds are played when the car trailer will be opened and closed
    • fixed a bug that caused the car trailer to move unintentionally during placement
    • fixed lamps for the car with trailer in LOD 1
    • added missing mod tags
    • car trailer textures partially renewed
    • optimized some models

    1.3 (28.05.2022)

    • added two cars with trailer: one for the player, for transporting people and goods, the other for individual transport:
      • added various mod settings to be able to change the vehicle properties
    • the announcement for driving car trailers on one of the advertising tarpaulins was replaced by advertising for driving car trailers
    • the uninstall help has been added as a mod setting and is now called "marker function"
    • added mod setting for the case when some UI elements are not translated
    • fixed a bug that could cause language dependent UI elements not to be loaded and thus generate error messages in the stdout.txt file
    • script improvements
    • UI improvements
    • adjustments to the repaint example for car trailers to place on the ground:
      • generates a clearer error message when loading if a script of the base mod could not be found
      • other small optimizations
