  • Hey all,

I seem to have a bit of a problem that I suspect is related to cost_mod. Since installing it the game seems to freeze at random points within the first 5 minutes of starting a game during a mouse click. This isn't related to anything in particular it seems, it's frozen after clicking on the line manager window, building track etc. After several reinstalls and testing it with individual mods it seems to be cost_mod that's causing the problem. I've tried installing using both TFmm and manually placing the files into the 'res' folder with the same result each time.

Is anyone else experiencing this and is there a known fix for it yet?

    Thanks

I've used the cost_mod since it was released and haven't had any problems because of it. Did you install the newest version? Also, did you use LuaTF.exe or LuaTFx64.exe to install it after you placed the files into the res folder? The way it's placed into the res folder doesn't matter as much as the way you install it using LuaTF.exe or LuaTFx64.exe. If you did everything right and it still causes problems, the creator of this would have to answer your question then because it works fine for me. And I'm not saying your wrong or anything, just saying it works fine for me.

  • Hey Tattoo.

From memory I've tried it using both with LuaTF.exe and LuaTFx64.exe and still no result. As my memory is a little shady I will try both again. I'm pretty certain I'm using the latest version. I will double check though and report.

  • Ok so I downloaded both cost_mod and extended Lua console again to make sure I had latest versions. Freeze is still occurring regardless of whether it's installed with the 64-bit version or normal version. Hopefully the mod creator can shed some light as to what's going on.

  • The only other thing I can suggest is to delete it all and reinstall the game fresh and see if it still does it. Did you try that? You typed that you reinstalled a couple times but don't know if you meant the game or mod.

I really don't know if this will matter but you can also delete the texture cache.

    C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\xxxxxxxx\xxxxxx\local\texture_cache

Also, are you trying a new game or saved game? I honestly don't see why that would matter but you never know. You have to try everything when there's a problem.

  • I also have tried to install the cost_mod.

I've installed the latest TF Extended Lua Console and also downloaded the latest version on the cost_mod. Installed mod as instructed, TF Ext Lua Console reports installation successful.

Train Fever starts OK. When you try to load a saved game or start a new game Train Fever crashes with a error message displayed.

    Error message;

    "File: res/models/model/vehicle/bus/mbo305.mdl

    res/models/model/vehicle/bus/mbo305.mdl:7:unexpected symbol near char(239)"

After deactivating mod in Ext Lua Console game runs OK again.

  • Yes I've re-installed the game several times. I just tried a completely fresh install just then with the re-downloaded versions of the mods plus deleted the graphics cash. Same problem occurs. I'm starting to run out of things to try haha. As far as saved vs. new games I've only been doing it with new games. I'm running this on a brand new PC so I don't actually have any save files on here as of yet.

Update: Ok so after I had re-installed the games & mods and found the problem was still occuring, I deactivated and uninstalled the mods via TFmm and manually deleted any remaining files. Since I've done this the icons for all the industry buildings, signals and stations aren't displaying properly in game. Worst part is though, even with the mods removed, the game is still freezing. I have verified the game cache via steam. It seems the only way to get it back to a stable state once the problem occurs is to totally remove the game and re-install it. Something weird is definitely going on here. I wondered if perhaps cost_mod has some compatibility issues with the new version of TF, but surely if that were the case more people would be having this problem.
