accurate where you can find references and best guess where you can't. I wouldn't worry too much about rivet counters, I doubt anyone playing this game would check up on those numbers ;p
As an example, the number I put on my 37 came off a loco which was built as a single headcode, no end doors varient. Nobody pointed that out yet!

That was surprisingly easy. I thought getting both in the game was going to put up more of a fight and I'd had to go off crying to Svelbeard again ...
-
I think a variety is probably on the cards...
-
So for those unaware, myself and Svelbeard have been chatting privately about these colour schemes. Even though I'm pretty sure I did my homework and got an RGB value for British Rail blue, I think many of us will agree I was someway off.
We've agreed on a good RGB match value. Looks much better I think.
I'll update the download after I add some more liveries I''ve been thinking of making
-
Hey Svelbeard, have a look at the PM conversation. When we've decided on a shade, I'll update the 37 to match
-
A splash of colour.
I think the blue I used on the class 37 was too dark and deep. Trying to get a closer match on this one, not sure if I got it though...

I realize this is a german forum, but I have never quite understood why so few people want/make british trains.
Well, if you look for a train fever community, there's really nothing else outside of the official forums (which are kinda dead really). Train-fever.net is the only place which is really active, but as you say, it's mostly German.
I need to learn to speak German again, apparently when I was a kid and the family lived on an MOD base in Germany I could speak it fluently. But I've been back in Britain for the last 20 years and have forgotten most of it -

I plan on making this in the Crimson Livery as well as BR Blue/Grey.
Nice choices, but also would you mind if someone repainted them to make a "blood and custard" set and a Southern green set?
-
BR Blue (Small Logo) is my personal favourite.
Mine too I like the others I suggested but the BR Blue small logo is my favorite, and would match my Class 37 if I went on to make a set of locos!
It has been suggested a few times though that maybe I release the 47 with a selection of maybe 2 or 3 liveries, then could go back and do the same to the 37 (maybe even with a single headcode variant model) . I'm sure the BR blue small logo will be the first one but I'm not sure which others to make... -
You're right, but to be honest, I always use the othographic viewport while I render. Reason: I can compare the position of my vertices, edges and faces. I think, you're doing the same. And just to show a picture of my standing, I'm too lazy to change the viewport. The really important pictures for me are the ingame ones, because colours can chance when moving to the game. And there they are always perspectivic.
I cant model in perspective view xD I need those "wrong" dimensions to model properly. Perhaps this comes naturally with time? >< Dunno
Thankyou Seamon for the translation.
I guess with everyone it's personal preference which view you use when working, I personally use all 4 viewports when making models; a top, a left/right, and a front and then only use perspective to rotate around the model...
But the point I was trying to make and I hope I didn't upset anyone, this is the time when you want to show off your model, why not take a couple of moments to make it look it's best? You are, afterall, showing it in it's incomplete form for criticism or feedback... Just my opinion though... -
Also, I'm hoping a kind soul would translate this post into German...
There's something I see so much on this board that I feel compelled to say this. Please stop showing off your models in Orthographic view.
Compare the views in the attached image. Orthographic views do not take in to account the distance from the camera when drawing an object, this results in the appearance of your vehicle getting wider at the back. Things seem smaller with distance, that is perspective. Why would you put so much effort into making the model, then show it off in an ugly orthographic viewport? I understand certain free modeling software doesn't render like 3DS Max does, but I'm pretty certain they all have perspective viewports, so please use them! -
What liveries are you planning on releasing this in?
I guess we could put it to a vote!
Here's some liveries I like the look of;
BR Blue Small and Large logo,
Railfreight 2-tone grey,
Intercity Swallow,
Freightliner,
BR 2-tone green... -
At the end of today's progress.
Some bits are still placeholders or may be re-done. -
Progress begins

The Class 47 was developed along with a number of other classes during the British Transport Commission's drive to remove all steam locomotives from British Rail service by 1968. The Class 47 was built by Brush Traction between 1962 and 1968. 512 of them were built, which made them the most numerous class of British mainline diesel locomotive.
As of 2015, 82 of them still exist as Class 47s, with others having been converted to other classes. 30 Class 47s still operate mainline services.
I will be making this on my Twitch livestream, feel free to drop by and say hello if you are interested in watching the creative process.

Huge massive thank you to Svelbeard!
Just need to make the windows reflective and a few other minor adjustments to it's config and it'll be ready to release!
-
Thanks for the reply, the 37 looks amazing you should be very pleased with it, I just hope you release it as a zip as I am on a MAC and can't do rar files lol
I shall look into the 3D modelling and see how I get on!! Do you have any other plans to release any other models at all??
Paul
Well I was considering making some Mk 1 carriages in BR Blue to go with my 37, and possible other diesels in BR Blue I could make later on... But I'm aware that BritishTrains is working on Mk1s and Svelbeard has some Mk2s he's working on, so if they release soon I might skip doing them...
And don't worry, it will be in a .zip. While I'm on Windows 7 I don't bother myself with any new fancy file compressors. Good old winzip will do for me

I'm happy to call this done now.
Svelbeard has kindly offered to help me get this in-game, hopefully he's around today we can get this released this weekend. Watch this space
