Still happens. Let me know if more info is wanted. But there's probably not much more to add at this point.

Just for the record, I set this:
And I can now confirm it does still happen.
Can you please set rendermode to 2,and disable Fast save if it's enabled, please save and quit the game.
Look if steam have finished downloading all files, and start TPF2 again...
I did have fast save enabled, yes.
I have now:

If you disable CommonAPI2:
"Loaded 7 of 3459 mod descriptions from disk" does this line change?
Other than now reading 3458, no.
if in doubt, you can replace local steammods = commonapi._native.dampf.getMods() with local steammods = {}
Thanks, I'll give that a try just to confirm. But I believe you. ![]()
The WorkshopBackupFolder system doesn't touch steam, but works one layer above. (works even with the gog version)
But to be sure, you don't have a backup folder set?
I do not have a workshop backup folder set:
Full stdout.txt if it is of any interest (from just starting the game, looking around the CommonAPI2 settings, and grabbing the above screenshot).
Edit: Just another stdout.txt with lots of the same spam, but this time during re-downloading of mods.:
CommonAPI2 can't trigger downloading mods
Interesting. Yet this doesn't happen when I remove CommonAPI2.
Wonder what's causing it then... ![]()
Bug report:
CAPI2 seems to trigger redownloading of mods by the in-game mod handler, which propagates out to Steam after closing the game. This happens very frequently, and to a lot of mods.
I just went through a cycle of about 40 mods being downloaded. Closed the game. Steam finished downloading stuff. I open the game again, and after a little think, it wants to redownload another 28:

This does not happen without CAPI2. The behavior has been around pretty much since the in-game mod browser was released (and presumably CAPI2 was updated to interact with it).
Apologies if this has already been reported.
"D:/SteamLibrary/steamapps/workshop/content/1066780/2981899708/mod.lua" not found. Mod will not be available.
Sounds like it may have failed to download properly.
Thank you very much for the reply EAT1963!
(Obviously I am Google Translating this.

Wie es aussieht wird hier kein gültiger Parameter fileName übergeben was dann bei string.ends(fileName, tbl[i]) zum Absturz führt.
I kind of understood this much. If we pretend it said string expected, got <not-string>, it's very straight forward: Bad argument type. Which is what I've assumed it is anyway.
What confuses me is:
1. If it got a string, why did it crash?
2. If it didn't get a string, why does it say got string?
Obviously, I don't think #1 is what happened. So the question is #2. I suppose this could be a Lua quirk, which I wouldn't know about. My knowledge of Lua is paper thin.
If we ignore the absurd expected string, got string, the rest is perfectly understandable.
Moving on: Just to confirm, what you are saying is that even though it references the mod ID 2320597125, that is not necessarily (and in fact, most probably not) the mod that caused the problem (and I wouldn't expect so anyway; it's simply a locomotive mod by community veteran MaikC!). Is this simply the mod from which the respective version of eatglobal was loaded, and as you say is then used by all other mods emplying that version of eatglobal?
Would I also be correct in saying that if you change the mod loading order, it may then get eatglobal from another mod? Again, just to confirm my understanding. ![]()

Sorry, dass ich so nicht weiterhelfen kann.

You've been very helpful in clearing this up! Thank you again!
Hi.
Not much activity in this thread. Let me know if there is a better place for this.
I have an error message here from another user over on Reddit that may be a problem with eatglobal in some way. I can't quite tell, so I'm requesting some higher expertise on the matter. I've done what I can to try to help, but I'm at a loss here. This is beyond my paper thin knowledge of modding and Lua. x)
It's a very strange (absurd) message of "string expected, got string":
Exception type: Lua exception
This error is usually caused by modding. Some game resources contain incorrect data.
