This is an iconic locomotive used for hauling long trains with Iron ore from the mines in the north of Sweden to the port of Narvik in Norway.
For this purpose the Dm3 locomotive was developed and put into service in the 1960s and remained in service until recently when it was replaced by the "I-ore" locomotives.
The locomotives dimensions speak for itself: 35m length, 7200kW power and a traction of 940kN managed to get this 273 tons of locomotive up to 100km/h...
