  • Hello everyone.

It's been years since I've used this forum, so not sure if this is the exact place for this particular question, but I was wondering if anyone can help me make a mod that sets "YearFrom" and "yearTo" for industries (and possibly cargos that are accepted" by year AUTOMATICALLY?

E.G. Set plastic factories being built and plastic to only be available after 1940.

E.G.2 Using mods like the Electronic factory and ADDING "YearFrom = 1940" and "yearTo = 0" to it as it lacks that information in the "Complete Industry Mod Version 1.0" from Philipsz for example.

E.G.3 Set Tool factories to no longer require planks, only Steel after 1900 then include plastic as well after 1950.

Ideally, I just want to append/patch this information via scripts as I can write it out manually if needed but given the sheer number of mods that would take forever.

TL; DR Basically trying to incorporate the logic from doug "Early Start: 1800" Mod to work for Industries as well so they spawn by year.

If anyone has any code or insight on how to do this let me know, as I can't remember how to get and set these types of variables from TpF2 *.con files at least.

  • Hi, maybe take a look at the "Real Industrial Chains" mod for some ideas (it's on Steam, don't know if it's here too). That mod changes the industries that are working, and their production recipes, depending on the year. For example chemical plants are on the map in 1800s, but they sit there dormant and don't accept/produce anything (and don't spawn/despawn either). At different years the mod activates those industries, and also changes the production recipes of other industries to start requiring their products.

There are other industry mods that do similar.
