  • Linux Mint 22.1_x64 CINNAMOM TF2_FLATPAK VERSION

    Hi all,

I'm New to Steam and in Transport Fever Community...

I installed Stem Flatpak version (I tried the version that is present in the Linux Software Manager, but doesn't work: full of problems, but manually installed mods worked...),

I bought TF2DE, and I installed some mods through the game menu, once installed I can enable them for any new map. Everything works. The path for these mod's is:

    /home/USER/.var/app/com.valvesoftware.Steam/data/Steam/steamapps/workshop/content/1066780/

I wanted to manually download and install some mods, but I can't figure out where to place them: after several attempts, I discovered that from the game menu there is a button: .../ADVANCED/OPEN USER DATA FOLDER and this open my user data folder at:

    /home/USER/.var/app/com.valvesoftware.Steam/.local/share/Steam/userdata/

either if I create the mods folder:

    /home/USER/.var/app/com.valvesoftware.Steam/.local/share/Steam/userdata/mods

by placing mods in one path or the other, they do not appear in the game menu. What I wrong? the path? I tried some ways but nothing.....

kindly someone can help me to fix this problem.... ? thanks in advance

  • /home/USER/.var/app/com.valvesoftware.Steam/.local/share/Steam/userdata/

doesn't look right when clicking open user data folder.

You should have a steam user id and the game id

With your paths, a full path should look like this to mods:

    /home/<linux user>/.var/app/com.valvesoftware.Steam/.local/share/Steam/userdata/<steamusernumber>/1066780/local/mods

    https://www.transportfever2.co…ocations#folder_locations

You should see a settings.lua, a savegame folder, crash_dump folder in:

    /home/<linux user>/.var/app/com.valvesoftware.Steam/.local/share/Steam/userdata/<steamusernumber>/1066780/local/

  • Hi,

thank you for your reply! Yes, I wrong to writhe the path of the ../ADVANCED/OPEN USER DATA FOLDER.... the correct path is:

    /home/USER/.var/app/com.valvesoftware.Steam/.local/share/Steam/userdata/1874634570/1066780/local/mods

For test I download/unzip/copy-paste these two mods into the /mods/ folder (renaming them, but leaving only the developer number):

    https://transportfever2mods.co…nese-train-shinkansen-l0/

    https://transportfever2mods.com/fs-italian-signals/

restarted Steam and TF2DE but these two mods doesn't appear in the game menu for activation....

  • Well, why do you want to use workshop mods without using the steam workshop?

Specially from a shady download site? - I never gave permission these site to host my mods! :cursing::thumbdown:

folder_<version> is the right folder naming for local mods.

    See the wiki

Simple download a mod from our site, the files here have the right names and the mod authors upload them,

  • Specially from a shady download site? - I never gave permission these site to host my mods! :cursing::thumbdown:

Looking on the net I found this site, but if you tell me that it does not fit, I avoid downloading mods from there

For me it is difficult even to enter this to forum: I have to enter through https://steamcommunity.com/ that sends each time a new code via email to be inserted on steam: then, once entered, I can get here and write.....and I get lost..... maybe one day I will understand better but for now it remains a bit complicated...

What is steam workshop? I would like to manually download the mods... :)

Please have patience, I installed steam only to be able to take TF2 and I do not understand anything because I am not practical with steam.... :|

Now I try to download mods from this site, and I hope everything works. :)

    Thanks again
