  • Hi,

I recently got Transport Fever 2 and have been enjoying playing it :) I've done the campaign and recently started trying some free-style games.

The game has worked fine on Linux for 1-2 months, it's been stable and pretty smooth to play. Unfortunately this week I've begun experiencing random freezes. I've tried waiting for the game to recover, but it doesn't and has to be terminated.

I got Steam to run an integrity check on the game's files and have performend RAM testing on my PC, both returned no errors.

Building the X-connect rails for stations was starting to get tedious, I found two mods to try that hopefully would make that easier. I wondered if the recent addition of the mods could have been causing the crashes, so I started again without those mods; unfortunately the game crashed again.

I tried switching the game from the Linux version to the Proton version, this made the game laggy to control, so I switched back to the pretty smooth linux version.

If anyone has any ideas what might be causing the crashes, it would be apprecited. I'd quite like to continue playing :) Thank you in advance for your time and consideration!

  • I would suggest to see if the crashes persist running on a completely freshly-installed vanilla game, including a completely fresh TpF2 user data and workshop directory.

In case the issue persists: AMD drivers can be weird sometimes, too, even the Mesa drivers on Linux. If you have upgraded them recently, consider trying to roll back and see if the issues still persist.

Have you updated anything recently in general?

Which window manager are you using?

Can you post your full system specs?

Remember to always make secure backups!
