cause this is train-fever...

yea , but I mean a working airport that has function . your trains can provide stuff for further transport.
-
You are not the first who is asking about that.
This question is being asked since the release of train-fever. The answer is still: This is train-fever.
There is no way to modify the game to get working airports. -
Just calculate how big an airport is and hob big the map would have to be to use just two airports.
-
I thought about airports as a randomly placed industry, which accepts and produces goods or maybe passengers. But the map generator would place multiple airports on even a small map. Also, industry buildings can't change their look over time. All this concluded against my thoughts.

Maybe a train station could be modded like the airport in frankfurt. But it would be very, very large...

Apart from the oft-quoted answer that this is Train Fever, not Plane Fever, the real issue with airports is best shown in a game like Transport Tycoon
Essentially, our maps are too small to make air travel viable.Yeah, the game could benefit from having more diverse and complicated industries. And there are some mods around that've had a stab at that. But map size is the main restriction.
I had similar thoughts about ships - since we have waterways. But apart from some passenger ferries, they'd have no use. Again, just like aircraft, they are transport modes which are about really long trips. And TF's maps are small by comparison

Ofcourse ships and planes are not that useable on the small maps, but you can also think "outside the box". Isnt it imaginable that you can push a town, that it builds a large airport to get visits from outside the map? Or the same with a harbor. I would really love this idea, coz its simply a huge possibility for stuff to do.
Edit: And at least you could think about a small kind of "multiplayer". Lika a basar or online-market with real trades. Combined with diffrent map types where you have many of "that" ressource and nothing from "this" it could improve the game also.

The ability of building tracks to the 'outside' was already a really nice feature in A-Train.
It would be really cool if Train-Fever would add the same feature
