Alles anzeigenWould a solution for the NS - ICE3 issue be to rework it into the China Railways CRH3? It's the same platform, yet manufactured in China. Plus, its official name is the Velaro CN, based on the Velaro platform used by Deutsche Bahn AG, RZD and Spanish National Railways (Renfe). I think that the legal protection on the ICE brand only extends to the brand itself, thus nullifying the approval of DB AG being needed. Secondly, Siemens only has legal claims to parts of the design considering how Chinese joint-ventures work regarding intellectual property. As it stands, Tangshan Railway Vehicles is building the Velaro CN, so there's that.
I understand that for my Dutch friends, seeing the ICE3 drive around with the NS logo would be stellar, but I (personally) would think it's more fun to have another real life high-speed train rather than having to rework it into a fictional ICE-but-not-really-please-don't-sue-DB/Siemens. It's just my two cents.

[I assume Wikimedia images may be directly linked, based on common licence theories?]
This has already been discussed at length and proposed by me earlier in this thread. Also, the ICE 3 mod already exists and can easily be adjusted by you with an NS logo and bistro font rather than the current DB logo, for your own personal use. If you choose to add this repaint to the file base, contact the maker of the original mod first.
Different topics.
You gave your two cents regarding the legal issues pertaining the DB ICE3 by Meister-Zogi and how they also prohibit reworking it into the Velaro RUS or Velaro with NS logos back when he seemed to be getting bogged down in legal issues. You also gave your two cents about how China doesn't care about patents and how the rules apply to the ICE brand and the Velaro design, how cookiestomper can deal with his ICE3 [prior to the go ahead of Zogi's ICE3] and 'blablabla'.
I suggest reworking the assets cookiestomper already has into the CRH3, rather than turning them into a ficticious train as he was planning. Considering -I assume- Cookiestomper hasn't notified NS/DB of his mod yet, it wouldn't be a stretch to pretend this was meant to be a CRH3 mod all along. That way, we'd have another real-life HST for everyone to enjoy, rather than keeping an NS ICE3 or to turn it into something fictitious. After all, while China does care about patent laws and how to acquire said patents, Chinese patents only reach as far as the borders of China itself. Considering the Velaro CN (CRH3CL version, not the earlier ones) isn't protected by the same patent as the ICE, Velaro RUS or Renfe, the CRH3 would lend itself to modding without hassle.
It simply doesn't make sense to me to scrap the work cookiestomper already put into his assets and his model, nor does it make sense to me to turn it into something fictitious when the community -including himself- has been putting out one high quality real life train after the other.

Wish list:
- Loc 6400 serie
- ICM (koploper)
- Loc 1200 serie
I'm looking forward to the ICM too. Spent loads of time on those travelling to and from Groningen. BTW there are both the original and refurbished versions.
Also on my wish list:
-Plan U diesel electric
-DH 1/2 (Wadloper) - this would fill the gap in time between the schienenbus/plan U and the modern light trains
-AR double deck push pull stock (combined with 1600 loco)
-AR EMU (both original yellow and refurbished IC colours)
I don't know how to model, so will have to wait for someone else.
@buum40 I don't want to upset you for the work you did, but we have that list already on train-fever.net
here is the link: List of Dutch trains/vehicle mods
Its not the full list
expanded the list with my bus repaints
@Bastargre oh i didn't no those busses are dutch i only know Arriva, RET and Connexxion in the Netherlands. I know all about dutch trains but nothing about busses.
Love the Dutch trains, reminds me of when I was a kid..... Any progress on the ICM?? I'm holding my breath...... Also, any plans to make some of the dutch trams? Pretty iconic in my mind and I would love to see them.
Again, thanks for all your hard work!!!
Hi, Guys,
Very nice to see that the dutch folks are busy with the dutch trains. I bought this game yesterday and i am still figuring out how todo things. I have played already to the year 2028. Now i installed the dutch trains to the game wanted to start a new game beginning in 1980 or up. But it can't be done. So i wanna ask you, can somebody send me an savegame with the dutch trains in it. If somebody would upload a savegame i need also an list which trains are used, so i can install them. Next question, how to start an new game, starting in 1980, with more towns and goods sites and maybe more money ??
Thanx for helping me out !
you can only start in 1850 / 1900 / 1950
Ok, i can only start in 1850, 1900/1950 are grey by me at the moment. So how i start in 1950 ??
You need to reach the year 1950 at least once to unlock it, at least as far as I know. So if you are new to the game you need to start in 1850 and then play until you reach 1950.
[quote='Mrconner','http://www.train-fever.net/index.php/Thread/555-MOD-Dutch-Trains/?postID=44411#post44411'] I have played already to the year 2028. {/quote]
