Rushing this a little bit because I will have no time to do any of this next week. But I'm willing to call it done at this point.
Next to get it in-game, possibly with an EWS livery variant if I have time...

No need to rush, take your time, get it right
Saves you from doing a bunch of updates later on.
Just look at my profile pic. Took me almost half a year until I was finished with it but now I'm quite proud of it indeed.
So, even if it takes you another 3 or 4 weeks, I'm sure none of us here mind waiting a little longer!
Aside from that it does already look quite nice!
Also like checking in on your stream every now and then, just thought you should know!
Submitted to the Filebase. Awaiting mod approval.
Also thankyou YstlDystl for checking out my stream. I didn't livestream today's work because Mrs killakanz used my 2nd monitor on her PC today.
And it's released
British Rail Class 47
A sneaky peak of the 47 in Transport Fever!
This was just to see if it works, I need to do some tweaks to the model to add new features like visual aging, higher res .dds textures, cab interiors, lights etc...
But here it is!
can someone tell me how they got their interior to show up? The mesh is there, separate from the body, but it's just not being rendered through the body's windows...
You can specify a rendering order in the mtl.
Could you go into more detail please? I tried setting order = 1 on the exterior and order = 2 on the interior mtls, but that didn't work. Neither did reversing the orders...
Read a bit now. The best hint I could find was, to give the interior a own material with order = 1. Hope this helps. I havent played around with the new textures my selfe so far, so I cant help that much ><
I checked your stream recording and noticed you have the transparency tag for the interior material as well. The game can't handle two objects with transparency behind the other.
Here's a snippet of my material setup for the Flirt.
Notice how I've removed anything that has to do with transparency (except the filename though as that's what it saves as from Painter in the template I made.).
map_albedo = {
compressionAllowed = true,
fileName = "models/vehicle/train/flirt_01_interior_albedo_opacity.dds",
magFilter = "LINEAR",
minFilter = "LINEAR_MIPMAP_LINEAR",
mipmapAlphaScale = 0,
type = "TWOD",
wrapS = "REPEAT",
wrapT = "REPEAT",
},
I could probably have removed the "cblend_dirt" parts, but I just made a small 1x1px image because other parts of the train don't change like that too.
Hi OlaHaldor!
Thank you for offering to help with this. I've got it working now!
Like I was saying in yesterday's livestream, I knew it was that 1 little line of code that I was missing somewhere, and it was! The interior .msh file had the exterior mtl applied to it! Stumbled across that this morning, switched it over to the interior mtl and it's working fine now!
Watch this space!
Great! I must've missed that as well when I was looking at the stream and you showed the .msh file. Good thing it's working!
Now I have a new problem.
I've added a custom engine sound effect. I have made a new sound_set which is basically just a copy of the stock train_diesel.lua, the only change is I've swapped the idle_drive.wav track with my new audio file.
I can hear the new effect in game, but it strangely doesn't seem to be attached to the loco. When the train comes into audio range, my sound effect fades up to max volume and stays that way until the loco goes out of audio range again. the sound effect isn't attached to the loco and doesn't sound like it's going past with it...
I'm really stumped on this one. I've even downloaded another mod that has custom sound effects on it and gone through all the files that came with it line for line. I see nothing that they did differently in the code and their sound effect works fine...
Nevermind, fixed it.
I saved the sound effect wav in stereo. It has to be mono.
Getting closer to release. Just some issues placing the driver :p
I think this is the perfect position, great view and always some fresh air (who cares for security anyway).
I think health and safety wants a word with you
Lookin' great, @killakanz!
I hope more british rolling stock makes it into TPF than TF. I've always had a soft spot for british locos and wagons!
I had to leave the stream - did you publish it yet?
Good news! It's published. It's on the steam workshop right now, with a special bonus 3rd livery
