  • The T3 collection will expand further with emergency vehicles and of course branded Transporters. However to set my mind on something different I am wondering which should be the next side project, side since I´m still working on helicopter flight, but with little success lately, so also very curious to how hugedragonyk approached this, looking forward to see his mod released.

Which should be the first next in line if it had to be one of these three that I already have done some work on? A. Kenworth K100 4-axle flatbed combination B. Scania 143M C. DAF 55 ?

I tried to get in contact with hugedragonyk on multiple channels to tell him to get in contact with you but he seems to not listen. I can't really understand his actions here as on the other side he tells he wants other modders to build upon his work. Anyway, I found some video of his mod in action and it's not a vertical take-off. In fact I think you'll be able to recreate it after seeing this:

//EDIT: Look exactly to the roll of the helis: There's none while takoff/landing but the same as on aircraft while flying... So I think takeoff/landing uses taxiways in a slightly different way than your 90° approach... ;)

  • I saw the message. In the past two weeks I got network problem in my area. I have not been able to open the forum and DISCORD normally. The page cannot be opened and the upload attachment often appears "unknown error". I can see all message, but I can't reply. . . It return to normal until yesterday.

At present, there are still several problems in the making of helicopter MOD. I am thinking about solutions. For example, the helicopter may suddenly fall and recover when it takes off, and how to further reduce the PATCH without causing surface conflict. At present, I am trying to reduce the entire heliport to the size of the roof helipad. And I need to find a way to solve the limitations of several games that I currently encounter... These need time to further try to solve. After all, this is made in exploration.

The first helicopter idea I'm currently trying is similar to the aircraft's ski jump takeoff mode on an aircraft carrier. Set a large ramp for the flight path, but due to the structure and function limitations of the game itself, some problems are still being solved. .

Last weekend I started to make concrete pump trucks with skeletal structure. This is also an attempt of the second idea.

(I'm considering adding a skeletal system to the helicopter, convert the skeletal file through MAX output and then skin the helicopter model, try to trigger the corresponding skeletal animation when the helicopter takes off and land, similar to the game AI character (SIT/WALK) ,door (OPEN/CLOSED) , These need time to try. After all, different mod authors can come up with different methods, everything can only be tried again and again, and finally found and share a good solution.

I may be more casual and jumpy in MOD making. When I encounter a problem that cannot be solved for a while, I will put it down to deal with other MODs. At some point, I think of a solution and then return to continue processing the previous MOD. So I will not always be stuck on one MOD. . . In the first half of last year, due to my participation in the epidemic prevention and control work, I stoped my MOD make. I resumed MOD making in the second half of last year. At present, I currently have 9 MODs of UEP2 series in making.

I also hope you can understand that all my current MOD works are done in my spare time after work. and I also have work and family to take care of. .

And we still have 6-7 hours of jet lag. I log on the forum or DISCORD after I get home from get off work at 6pm. . The time in Europe is the working time in the afternoon. . . If I want to communicate directly with other authors, I need to stay up late and wait until 2 am... (I will be forced to sleep in the living room because of my wife’s anger... laugh). I am sending you this reply. Right now, I have just finished my lunch and prepared for lunch break after get off work. . . . And for many European friends, the time zone at this time is about 6 in the morning. . . .

In the follow-up, I will take time to compare and test several heliport making ideas that I currently think of. If you have other ideas, you can also send me an email, which is more convenient. [email protected]

  • hugedragonyk Thank for replying. No need to apologize through. :)

I'm not sure if I understand this correctly but could such a skeleton animation be used on your vertical taxiway? So to have the helicopter rotated by 90° while taking off to compensate for the 90° the game adds? ;)

  • A. Kenworth K100 4-axle flatbed combination B. Scania 143M C. DAF 55 ?

I would definitely prefer the DAF 55 all the way! Preferred, because we seem to have several models of semitrailer trucks - american as well as "european". However, there are close to zero "single/small trucks" except the Renault Magnum from SM1... so for the smaller deliveries maybe in-town, the DAF 55 might be a good hit :).

PS: Very beautiful models in general... despite what I just mentioned, I am also very much looking forward to the other models!:saint::thumbup:

    A. I think the Kenworth would be really cool, as that is a flatbed with trailer. I don't think we had many, if any of the two steering axle versions here in the US. Do not quote me but I think those may have been from Aussie land. Not sure at all if these ever made it into Europe past a few one off instances. Someone please feel free to correct me if I am wrong.

    B. I really like the Scania's trailer with sides covering the wheels giving it that streamlined appearance. After looking the truck up, I see that it was meant to be streamlined in the very early 90s. Most everything I am trying to model is late 80s to early 2000 when looking at vehicles.

    C. The DAF 55, late 90s? does add to a segment that we have few offerings in, actual box trucks. Currently I am only aware of the Renault Magnum and a Scania models being available outside of some tippers beyond the 80s. The closest thing we have are like sprinters or transit vans.

I can use all three of them, but I would get the most use currently out of the DAF 55. I may have talked the local governance into not allowing combination vehicles into the villages and small towns in an effort to keep rail freight profitable.

  • Currently I am trying two options, the first one is as shown in the test video I have posted. But need to redesign the airport and rewrite all PATH. However, after redesigning and modeling the heliport, there are several issues that need to be addressed.

During the Spring Festival holiday next week, I will start the test of the second scheme, basically to tear down and redo all the content I made before.

If option two is completely feasible, the advantage is that a helicopter can be compatible with all airports in the game.

So the two options have their own advantages and disadvantages. I need time to test one by one. Finally choose one, or merge them toghter.

  • okido, then the DAF 55 will be starting up, meshes for an improved chassis and cargo boxes are done. 3 box types for resp. Standard, Refrigerated and Distribution.

  • holy ... such amazing vehicles. Maybe a rather strange request, but:

Could you please just keep on modding? So far just everything was outstanding and a perfect add-on!

haha not intending to stop yet, though with most of my hobbies there are high and low times.

Plus at the moment my work, due to covid lockdown, being all from home still gives me more time to spend on eg. modding. Otherwise I would be travelling a lot and not have my personal hardware with me.

I must admit I spend more time modding than playing, but this is what I enjoy doing.

Therefore I also very much appreciate if you share footage of my mods in your scenes on the forum. Thanks for that!

And if you create repaints or altered mods, feel free to do so, also share footage of those please.

  • The asset config is finished on the DAF, on to the big clean up to remove all obsolete test data.

The communal vehicles don't have opening doors, but making the shown options variable bases on selection of each other isn't possible in TpF, so guess you'll find that out as you use it.

  • The daf looks amazing

I know the "DAF 55" as a small car with a 1-speed automatic transmission from the 70s

Yes the variospeed DAF 55 and 66 I also recall from childhood. Occasionally you will still see a classic on the road here in NL. I've no clue why DAF didn't opt for a distinctive name for the truck, the cab was from Leyland, and didn't match the typical DAF design of the time, DAF aquired the Leyland company about a year before this 55 was introduced. Possible 55 was the working name at Leyland. Later newer versions in this line were branded as DAF LF.

  • It's a "Coming soon" for the DAF55 truck now. Tested and approved internally on my side :).

I did consider to include person assets but feel that does not add value for effort here, hence it's just the default drivers you'll have to do with.

There is an eater egg hidden in there some where, let me know if you find it, I wonder who'll be the first to see it.
