Most sources agree that the "Walli" was the only time the D311's recieved camo. It may be that during the war some other makeshift camo may be applied
once or twice, but no evidence or testimony on that point exists. That being said: after thet war, the D311.04 was found at a scrapyard in Amsterdam. That
locomotive was then designated "NS L5" but was never put into service. The young DB bought that locomotive back in 1951 and made that one into the V188 002.
It was rumoured however, that when they saw that locomotive it was not Wehrmachtgrau, but some kind of brown/green color, no camo however. But again: no
evidence.

Furthermore, there is no evidence that the V188 ever pulled the Leopold. Don't forget that only 4 D311's were built. Two more were destroyed while being
produced. That made the D311 an very rare locomotive. The D311's were specifically designed for the big guns Dora and Gustav - the Leopold could easily
be towed by a "normal" Kriegslok, which would be preferable anyway: not every occupied country in that period had an infastructure that gave support for
dieselpowered trains - but every country had support for steamers.

I can almost certainly conclude why they chose to make this set:

When done accurately, Lima should've made a enormous railwaygun that needed two parallel railway tracks to move. In that same set two D311's should
be present that need to pull that gun in utter synchronicity. That ain't gonna work now is it? But that means no "Hersteller" could ever make a set with
the D311 in it's designed role. So, what Lima did is take some artistic license and made this set. And right they were to do so, it looks awesome.

"An den Einsatzort kamen die Gerätschaften meist mit Lokomotiven der Baureihe 50 ÜK. (Übergangskriegslok) Im späteren Kriegsverlauf wurden auch 42er und 52er
eingesetzt. Eine Diesellokomotive oder kleinere Dampflokomotive waren für den Verschub zuständig. Die kleinen Dampflokomotiven waren fast nur „Beutelokomotiven“
der Region. Die Diesellokomotiven waren die V20, V36, D311/V188."

So... Anyone care to model the Leopold?

That same source however says the following about the Lima-set:

"Nicht das erste Mal hat die Firma Lima Modelle der Deutschen Wehrmacht im Programm gehabt. Im Katalog 1978/1979 wurde ein "Kanonenwagen" vorgestellt. Diese entsprach
jedoch laut Bild eher der langen Bruno, wenn man viel Phantasie besaß. 1979/1980 wurde schließlich ein "Kanonenwagen", das Geschütz K5 Leopold vorgestellt. Betitelt wurde
das Geschütz als Eisenbahngeschütz K5 "schlanke Emma"/"Leopold"/"Anzio Annie". (daher auch die fehlende Energiezentrale, wenn man ein Denkmal zum Vorbild nimmt, das
nicht vollständig ist...) Im Neuheitenprospekt 1982/1983 wurde ein Militärzug vorgestellt: Diesellokomotive 288 in Tarnlackierung. Ein voller Witz. Nicht nur die Bezeichnungen,
auch die Phantasielackierung, die diese Lokomotive sowie die Geschütze nie getragen haben. Der Schriftzug "Leopold" ist ebenso der Phantasie entsprungen. Diese Geschütze
erhielten zwar den Namen, wurden jedoch nie so lackiert."

The original pack will contain all verified liveries. Maybe at a later stage some fictional liveries can be made of course.

There will always be people who don't like military themed mods. Some say it isn't relevant to the game or it touches on subjects
that aren't particularly welcome to the game.

Utter nonsense.

This is the thing with mods: no one is forced to download those kinds of mods. That's the beauty of it. You can completely create
any kind of composition you like.

Of course, I do understand that certain symbols are out of the question - especially (ironically) in a mainly German (Germanspeaking)
community. Nor would it be tasteful to use those kinds of mods to glorify the material, period or certain aspects of it. There's where
I draw the line. Make the model, make the skins - but leave out the swastika's or other equally offending symbols - and for godsake
leave out any ideology you may carry with it.

Why this soliloquy?

I want to stamp out any kind of discussion before it's gonna take place. I truly respect anyone's opinion, even if it's f*cked up .
But these discussions have raged on almost every modding forum, trainsimfora not exempted. God knows I've been part of those
discussions many times. All I can say is: have faith in the moderators and if you truly feel offended by material - report it to the
moderators and await their point of view. If they concur, they'll contact the poster, if they do not: you'll just have to accept that
your view is not (widely) shared among the community.

That's because of:

- It's even longer ago.
- The theater of war was far more centralized on set battlefields
- Far less civilian casualties - most of them died of the Spanish Flu
- It was a war between European nations to make out who was the undisputed superpower
- the atrocities of WWI pale in comparison to that of WWII

The image of WWII is that there are clear opposing sides and a very clear divide of what
people consider "good" or "evil". Or better said: people find it easier to identify with the
sentiment of that war. Another reason for this is that difference in culture and technology
is far less poignant: there are almost less differences between WWI and 1870 then between
WWI & WWII - especially if one would consider the causes of war and the main objectives.

And there it is!
