Further progress. Two versions done now, which versions roughly represent the periods 1959-1967 and 1968-1973:

    Subtle differences between the two:

    - Old V-number on the left, EDV-number on the right
    - Black/Dark grey guard rails with (warning) striping on the left, plain red guard rails on the right
    - and some other small details

The 261 187-9 is also based on a existing locomotive, as shown in this picture:
Eisenbahnstiftung Joachim Schmidt, february 1973, BW Göttingen (picture by Dr. Willy Hager)

The 261 187-9 was built in 1963 and started life as the "V60 1187". It was one of the V60's that got the "Ozeanblau"
paintscheme - the next skin in line!, this is what it looked in 1990:

As far as I know, the locomotive still runs today although it looks a bit worse for wear.

This would be my personal endresult:

The poor resolution is due to it being a GIF. I've not gone all out with the weathering: my aim was to make
it look used. Not like scrap. I'm especially pleased with the gloss being reduced in line with the grime be-
    coming more apparent.

    Next report:

    - texture finetuned
    - removed much of the gloss
    - made a new dirt map from scratch

    Gloss & dirt

As it was with Train Fever, there tended two be roughly two groups of people: the ones who liked them shiny and the ones that liked them grimey.
I am definitely part of the last group. In reality locomotives never look shiny unless:

    - it just rolled out the factory
    - it just rolled out of the depot after a (major) service
    - it just rolled out of a cleaning facility
    - it is covered with oil or used "Glanzblech" (yes, I'm looking at you Württemberg)

The new phased weathering in Transport Fever is a godsend however. It allows a locomotive to start as shiny as a modeltrain and gradually grime
up with the years. To my surprise however locomotives do get more dirtier, but keep on being shiny like a turd in a punchbowl. Vanilla and modded
alike! And that is strange, because liveries don't get more shiny with the years: they fade.

For example, remember this picture from earlier?

If you would look very closely, you would see that this locomotive last major service was in
1966. This picture is from 1967. So, the locomotive looks mighty fine - even clean. Not strange,
the locomotive just had a major service and was at that time only 8 years old.

But in the year 2003, the locomotive was already sidelined for a time and was to be scrapped,
which eventually took place in 2004. Want to know how it looked in the end?

Absolutely horrid. Many railcompanies neglect esthetic service as soon as the locomotive starts
it last term in active service. Especially locomotives that tend to be out of the public eye.

The first progress has been made. The first step is a in depth study of the model and the way it
handles color. The first version will be a reworked version of the original:

In case someone might not notice the difference, a GIF with the original (V60 101) compared with the new one (V60 430):

The new version is based on the actual V60 430 in it's first livery: altrot (old red) with yellow striping and warning stripes, as shown in
    this fantastic photo:

und so möchte ich nicht, daß z.B. ein Hello Kitty Taurus herumfährt (stark übertrieben).

Such. A. Killjoy. Just when I was about to do that....
I already had the repaint worked out and replaced some sound files with the soft soothing sounds of Despacito in the background.
Alas, that gem will be lost to us now for eternity.

So, I guess a Brony-version is out of the question?

JK - I think the heart of the matter is that indeed the mod has to be prepared to allow such easy repainting. Aside from that
you must always make plain your stance on repaints with every mod you release. That remains the same.

The V60 just rolled into my shed:

I will be doing multiple repaints, among which:

    - ozeanblau/elfenbein variant
    - DB Cargo variant
    - Railion
    - Belgian
    - multiple "Privat" variants, MWB, HSL,

    After that, we'll see!

Was den zeitlichen Folge-Aufwand eines derartigen Projektes angeht - frag mal bei @Cadoras nach, der ist da inzwischen ein Experte

Yeah, and I was such a wise man that I've combined the second one with starting a new company......
At this rate I'll be able to do a decent project at about 2019.

    Congrats MaikC!

I've tried Substance Painter a bit, couldn't really get it to work in the way I want to. I see the potential, but
at the same time I see a downside: the power of SP is automation. Instant-weathering. I know most modelers
are absolutely fan of SP, because it enables modelers to make proper textures themselves. Problem is however
    that automation replaces understanding.

Let me put it this way: SP gives an acceptable texture within the hour. The way I do it may provide a more
unique and custom result, but takes way longer. I know, I've said many times that I don't really got much time
for hobbies at the moment, but if I'm doing something - I'll take my time, no rush jobs. If it takes a month, then
it will take a month. I'm not entirely satisfied with this aging process, but this took me about 20 minutes to cook
up. I bet that the first real challenge will be a locomotive.

But... SP (2) will get some more attention. As I see it now, I may have use of it as an additional tool. Something
things are almost impossible to do with Photoshop, that can be done more easily with SP.

I personally can't wait to have your steam Locos back...

Dead hey? No just dormant in a sense. The steam loco's however - that is up to the original
mod authors. In most cases I only contributed the paintwork. If or when they choose to con-
vert their work, I might (when asked and if I got time) update or reboot/vamp the textures.

Oh dear, I don't really know if I'm still deserving of that honorary - I'm quite noobish still with the TpF textures. But will see...
Model has been updated: thanks to the tip of @ttjunkie the small UI icon has been added!

Nice work (and also very nice to see you back!). I have one issue with the steam version tho... it seems there's no image to display in the "Lines"-window, I only have blue boxes (. below). Well, in exchange the waggon looks very nice when seen

Oh dear. A new feature I've missed - easily fixed. Thanks for the tip!

My gut feeling as well, but keep in mind I'm still working and playing around. More repaints are in the works and I'm almost certain going to tweak it around more.

Like I said, I'm still considering. It hasn't been released yet, because I'm ironing out some bugs and learning how to release on Workshop.

    Aging:

I know. I was somewhat torn on that subject. I'll have to consider it on possible feedback. In the past for every person that stated too weathered there
was another one stating that it could use some more. So, it'll have to grow. Furthermore, the GIF displays it in quicktime. Normally it will take 30 years
(!) to get that beat up.

I'm back! Kinda, sorta. Since last year a couple of things have changed (for the better), but which have lead to me having
extremely little time for modding. Still, the itch became so bad I just had to scratch. Unfortunately I was (and am still)
utterly unfamiliair with the new texturing formats of Transport Fever. In this thread I'll publish my
    new projects.

Technically, this thread is a continuation of my old thread for Train Fever: The Paintshed by Cadoras

    IMPORTANT:

    Requests

In the past I have done a ton of requested work. Like I've said, my time has become extremely limited so I have to allocate
it with utter care. As such, If you request any work to be done, don't be surprised if I decline or that it'll take (quite) some
    time to be completed.

    Double trouble

In the future I'm going to (try to) convert a number of my past projects to Transport Fever. Some of them have become redun-
dant, some are not. Although I will try to be mindful about it, I consider it my "artisic right" (oh dear...) to convert my own
work to new standards. If an existing or upcoming mod has similarity with my converted mod, it will not directly be a reason
    to not convert my work.

    Mod release

At the moment I'm not entirely sure if my mods are goint to be released in both Workshop and tpf.net. In my opinion Workshop
has precedence, because everyone that owns Transport Fever has direct access to the Workshop. I don't have anything against this
website, not in the least. But I'm undecided at the moment if there is (significant) benefit in double releasing these mods. With
the arrival of Workshop, I'm inclined to use the Workshop for mod release and this forum for "beyond the scenes" and other
stuff that goes with my work. But like I said, I'm undecided as of yet. My first mod will be released in Workshop first and perhaps
    later on this website.
