    So...I think the last time I asked for someone to create a Caboose for our game was in 2015?

    I think we had a couple people offer submissions that were very nice...but I don't think the modders that gave us their versions of the Caboose are still around. Anyone know?

    Anyway...as a player who likes to have a "Pretty" layout...and spends HOURS adding unnecessary "stuff" to my maps...I sure miss adding a Caboose to the end of my trains. A train of that era just don't look right without a Caboose tagging along at the end, eh? I mean...if only for the realism aspect of the game...right?

    So...I repeat my request...

    Can someone make us a Caboose...or two...please?

    Thanks,

    Jerry

    I made the change to the save format and everything seems working well.

    I am still having problems with the occasional CTD when zooming in-game, but had that issue before. Hopefully they will fix that issue.

    Anyway...everything appears working with the names. I will be posting it on the website here...and will also post it on the Steam Workshop...once I figure out how to do that...smiles.

    Thanks for your help.

    Attached is the corrected zip...

    Hey...

    I wanted to convert my "Wisconsin City and Town Names with Madison City Street Names" mod to work with TPF2.

    I have looked at the mod.lua configurations in all of those in the current TPF2 names mod download offerings...authored by others...and I see all are different.

    Can someone help me please?

    My main zip of my mod is "Wisconsin_towns_and_Madison_streets_2.zip"
    It contains a folder "Wisconsin_towns_and_Madison_streets_2"
    that contains:

    1. a folder "res", which holds a folder "config", which holds a folder "name2", which has a folder "usa", which has a folder "en", which contain the "persons.lua", "streets.lua", and the "towns.lua" files, which I am assuming are correct, as they are the same as which worked in my TPF version of this mod.

    2. a file "image_00.tga" which is my mod image of the Wisconsin Flag.

    3. a file "preview.jpg" which is also my mod image.

    4. a file "workshop_preview.jpg" which is also my mod image.

    5. a file "mod.lua" which contains this:

    function data()
    return {
    info = {
    minorVersion = 2,
    severityAdd = "NONE",
    severityRemove = "NONE",
    name = _("my_name"),
    description = _("my_description"),
    tags = { "wisconsin", "usa", "streets", "towns", "cities", "madison" },
    minGameVersion = 0,
    dependencies = { },
    tfnetId = 21546,
    authors = {
    {
    name = "Heinekn",
    role = "CREATOR",
    tfnetId = 21546,
    steamProfile = "76561198007101301",
    },
    },
    },
    }
    end

    6. and finally another file "strings.lua" which contains this:

    function data()
    return {
    en = {
    my_description = "Wisconsin cities and town names with city of Madison street names.",
    my_name = "Wisconsin Cities and Town names with City of Madison street names",
    },
    }
    end

    So...can someone point me to my error(s) please?
    Thanks...much appreciated!
    Jerry

    And Merry Christmas to everyone from Wisconsin!

    Hello everyone...

    So...it's that time of the year again...when Heinekn expresses his Christmas Wish for some modder to do a Christmas Train.

    And yes...I'm the same person who whines because there is no Circus Train". Smiles.

    So...anyway...both are on my list for Santa.

    Now...this is what I'm talking about...

    Hello...

    I deleted two files which were installed by the mod ARR_1.11.rar download...that is the Alaska train set mod.

    The two files were: "alaska.lua" and "emd_pf7.lua".

    Tested...Everything loaded as the game should...all mods enabled. Thew Alaska engine sets appear OK as well.

    Attached is that text file, if you wanted to look at it.

    Thanks for your response...appreciated.

    Hey everyone...

    I have no idea what I have done or the offending mod causing this error. I know it's a sin to be installing so many mods at one sitting, but here is proof of the errors you might encounter when you DO install too many mods at one session...trying to troubleshoot errors that happen are hard to debug.

    The error Window is:

    Configuration error
    File: res/config/sound_set/Alaska.lua
    Key: tracks
    Required key not found
    This error is usually caused by modding. Some game resources contain semantically

    Anyway...thinking the Alaska train mod was the issue...I uninstalled and re-installed the mod. No luck.
    I checked and there is a Alaska.lua file where it should be.
    I have no idea what the "tracks" refers to.
    This error happens when I start a new Free Game or try to load a saved game.

    I looked inside the "Alaska.lua" file and see there is only something there about the horn. No references to anything like "tracks".

    Any ideas?

    Thanks,

    Jerry

    Hello all...

    Yesterday, we took a road trip on a beautiful Fall day. Cruising the hills and valleys, with the top down, in the central Wisconsin Baraboo hills.

    We visited the Mid-Continent Railroad Museum in North Freedom, WI.

    I took many photos and have already posted them to my gallery.

    Anyway...One of the "understood" parts of the early American Railroad life was the Hand Cart. I included several photos of some of the old hand carts which were used in the day. Very interesting concepts for some.

    So...I think someone needs to design a hand cart for the sim. An animation of a couple workers working the handles of the cart, up and down, would be cool. One could create a path for the hand cart, just as you can for any other vehicle.

    Think?

    Hey...

    I was thinking thjat the addition of a hobo-type landscape item, like the camp, or the addition of hobos on a train car would add a little interest...and fun. Just as someone would add a Space Needle to their map...for interest. I am sure you have seen the elaborate hobby-train setups with the interesting things added to the landscape. No reason for their existing in the train world...but interesting to the observer none the less.

    Hey Yoshi...

    Maybe you misunderstand me...or my words and meanings were lost in the translation.

    I would never claim someone HAS to do anything. I was only doing what this forum's heading indicates...requesting a mod. And that's all I meant, of course.

    Sorry for the misunderstanding.

    Jerry

    ----

    And let me describe the American picturesque view of a "Hobo Camp".

    Here is a link to a model railroading piece which fits so well the American image or remembrances of the Hobo World. The images are so-well documented with historical photos of the hobo...not to even mention the portrayal of hobos in the early American Film Industry.

    Anyway...the link below is a good rendition of what a Hobo Camp is romantically remembered as. The classic image would include of Hobos sitting and standing around what might be a burning barrel...or campfire.

    Hobo Camp Model RR prop

    Concerning my suggestion of a Freight Car, or flat car, the image would be Hobos standing in the doorway....or sitting on the edge or a car...or riding the top of a freight car. All hitching a ride on the railway during the Depression era.

    Thanks for listening.

    Jerry

    Hey everyone...

    Did the Europeans experience the occurrence of a Hobo riding the rails? You must have. What were (are) they called? The Hobo is a classic part of American railroad history.

    What some creative person needs to do is create a rail car which would have a few hobos standing in the doorway of a freight car...or riding the top of a freight car...or riding a flat car...or whatever. And then...let's not forget...we would then need a "Hobo Camp" to place along the rails.

    And I like the recent mod of a Leopard tank on a flat car!. Someone should add other flat cars of other military vehicles, like the Humvee, etc. That way we can have a more diverse and impressive Military train.

    Just ideas...

    Hey...

    I now have Blender. Is there a plug-in for Blender so it will recognize a DDS file so I may import it into Blender?

    Or, am I trying to open 3D image of an engine (DDS files) using the wrong file? What should I point to when importing?

    I couldn't find any understandable info elsewhere.

    Thanks,

    For example...in the res/textures/models/vehicles/train folder, there are several DDS files for the Pioneer Zephyr.

    How would I load it into Blender to look at it?

    First question...

    I have installed the plug-in for my Photoshop and can now see/edit DDS files.

    Considering how cryptic the DDS images of the 1D flat vehicles are, it will be a feat in itself trying to know what can be placed where. A lot of trial and error, I'm sure.

    But, to make that trial and error a little easier, what are the recommendations for a viewer which will allow me to make my edits to the graphics of the DDS file and easily see how the edited 3D vehicle turned out...without the need to load the game and see the vehicle with the changes in-game.

    Thanks,
    Jerry.
