It would be nice if those creating new rolling stock would, when done, also create a "fake" version for those of us wishing to populate their rail yards with something more than station buildings and the like.

I know it's possible to get a train on that siding, but it's not a simple task. It sure would be nice to have ploppable trains and see a populated rail yard.

I was looking at the instructions for creating maps from USGS Lidar maps, and my eyes soon glazed over. A little over my head.

What I need is a volunteer (smiles) who is willing to do a map which includes Wisconsin. Or maybe one of the USA Midwest with Milwaukee, Minneapolis, Chicago, Detroit, and other major cities of the Midwest.

    Anyone? Anyone?

    Thanks,
    Jerry

    Update:

I deleted all local content and re-installed game. Still no luck with changing names after trying to setup. I used TFMM and also manually copied the lua files to their correct locations. Still no change when game started.

I have installed a different name change mod (using TFMM and manually copying lua) and that mod was also not installed correctly.

I have other mods installed with no issue.

Why is this name change not working?

    Help please.

    Thanks,
    Jerry

    Hello all...

My mod which gave the game all Wisconsin city and street names seems to have stopped working. It did work at one time, and it appears it must still be working for others, since I have not heard otherwise.

I have checked the towns.lua and streets.lua in their folder, and they are the correct files.

Yet, when I open a new game, I am still getting the USA names. Not my Wisconsin names.

Anyone have an idea why the names are not changing? Where are the USA names coming from then?

    Thanks,

    Jerry

I have made a rail yard and wish to add standing/stationary engines, rail cars, etc.

Engines or rail cars on an end-of-line (with blocks), or siding would add a more life-like feel to the yard.

I have use the deco mod which has an end-of-line section of track with a block, which is designated in the game as a "depot". I then "buy" an engine plus whatever from that "depot". I then assign it a line, and when it starts rolling out of the "depot" I stop it while it is still on that dead end spur. Now I have an engine standing on that spur. Mission accomplished.

But, it still is not the appearance I would like to see, because this engine is still idling, even tho it is not moving. Also...that engine is now listed in my "Manage Lines" window. Which clutters up that window.

Also...when you have setup many of those end-of-line pieces of track, with block, there is also a new details line in that "Manage Lines" window for that so-called "depot". So, if you have used 10 of those blocked track segments (each a depot), the "Manage Lines" window becomes VERY large, using up too much of my screen real estate.

Anyway...to make a long story short...is there a mod which allows me to "place" engines or rolling stock in my yard for aesthetics? It would be nice if there was something like the building mods which allows you to place various structures in the yard...but allowing you to place non-functioning engines or rolling stock.

I have attached an image of part of my work-in-progress yard with a few idling engines, to illustrate how I kinda placed those engines. But...It needs some standing rolling stock and stuff, eh?

    Anyone? Anyone?

I was able to modify the values setting from the 1 track, 320 m station to a 10-track, 320 m station. I was also able to place the 10-track station.

But the modification only works for that first placed 10-track station. After creating the larger station, the number of tracks reverts to the original setting of 1?

Isn't there a way to make the change permanent? So, If I click the 1-track, 320 m station, it would always be a 10-track, 320 m station?

I am guessing my current save games will be toast.

I am sure most have experienced that dreaded "can't find file x" error when re-starting a save game. Then comes the job of determining which mod caused the error...so the mod may be re-installed to fix the error.

I think I will write-off my current save games and start fresh when the DLC arrives. And that's a shame, cuz I have some HUGE layouts...and was in the process of putting the finishing touches on a nice rail yard.

You see...my problem is...there are so many creative and cool mods on this site that it is hard to not want to use them. My TFGM inventory already number 73 mods. Smiles.

So...call me a TF mod junkie then!

I see the New DLC will be available on Friday. They mentioned that there was input from the modding community in the new DLC.

What effect will the DLC have upon any of the current Mods I have been using?

For example, let's say I have the mod "Baureihe 44 der DR by Grimes" installed. Now, let's say the new DLC also includes the Baureihe 44. Can anyone foresee a problem with this?

    Thanks,

    Jerry

    Hey...

    Thanks for the quick reply.

That was my problem. I installed TFGM...imported the TFMM data...and deleted TFMM.

Now using only the TFGM and all is well...including your caboose.

I have also noticed a few other mods I had installed with TFMM, which are now magically appearing now that I am using TFGM.

I appreciate your help...and thanks again for your work.

    Jerry

Photo looks great...but I tried installing using Mod Manager. It is listed as active with a category of wagon in MM.

I can't find the caboose in game.

Looked at all three eras to see if it was year-specific. What did I do wrong?

And thanks for your efforts. Very cool.

What we really need is a nice Red Caboose. With all the talent I see in the game design...Anyone? Anyone?

I know there is a kinda-caboose in the Iron Horse pack...but I am sure someone else could have a go at it?

    I mean...what's a train without a Caboose anyway? Smiles.
