    Hey...

Yes...am taking the challenge to write a tutorial (English version) for repainting a vehicle. I know my way around Photoshop pretty well, so that should be no problem. I WILL need the guidance of some of you and will appreciate your knowledge.

My goal in this exercise is to create a "Christmas Train" and a "Circus Train".

The plan for the Christmas Train will be choosing an existing in-game engine and rolling stock and then adding Christmas graphics to decorate them. I thought some garlands, lights, and incidentals would be just the ticket

The Circus Train would be next on my plate. Although I think simply adding graphics to the rolling stock will be needed, there will also be a need for some new 3D car/object creation required. That is my shortfall in this project. I know nothing about creating new objects and the like which would work in-game. I will look for someone's help when I get to that project.

    First...my Christmas Train...

    Thanks...that plugin worked perfectly.

And when you look at what you need to edit to do something simple-sounding like adding graphics to a train car, you certainly gain a new respect for those who do repaints and the like. It is a very involved and skillful task!

Going to keep me busy for a while...smiles.

    Jerry

I must be doing something wrong...

    For example:
    I can go to res>textures>models>asset>vehicle>train
and can find these four files:

    emu_pioneer_zephyr_back_albedo_opacity.dds
    emu_pioneer_zephyr_back_cblend_dirt_rust.dds
    emu_pioneer_zephyr_back_metal_gloss_ao.dds
    emu_pioneer_zephyr_back_normal.dds

When i try to open any of these .dds files, Photoshop tells me "Could not complete your request because it is not the right kind of document".

I find no .tga file for this train, or any of the others in that folder.

This is true for any of the vehicles in the "models" folder.

What do I open to edit in Photoshop...and where are those files located?

    Thanks again...
    Jerry

    Hello all...

I was considering making a Christmas Train...and maybe a Circus Train.

My thoughts were to use some of the built-in vehicles and modify them with some graphics added to compliment the above themes.

Is there an English Language tutorial somewhere so I can learn some of the basics involved?

Am I right to assume a program like Blender would be one of the tools I would need to use to add some graphics or change some colors to vehicles and the like?

    Thanks,

    Jerry

So...I don't think my MOD request is misplaced. Really...when someone uses only one word in their Title..."Caboose??"...in a thread titled "Mod Requests", it sure sounds like a request for a Caboose Mod to me. But then, I spose I could have titled my request..."How about someone making a mod which would add a Caboose to TPF please?" But you know...I think I accomplished the same thing with my one word "Caboose??".

Or is this a case of a misunderstanding due to the meanings being lost in the language translation?

Or, maybe a little chilling would do here. I mean...was I really wasting everyone's time with my apparently miss-placed and only one-word mod request?

I think my message was pretty plain to most = "Would someone please make a Caboose Mod?"

But...OK...I will watch my step from now on...

    Jerry

If you belong to Cheat Happens...which I do...they have a program fix that allows you to add MILLIONS of dollars to your "bank" by simply pressing the "Numpad 1".

Works perfectly for me. Load the program once...add all the $ you desire...save the game...and no need to run the program again unless you need more cash.

I am so surprised UG did not have an option to make the sim with a "Free Mode".

    Anyway...problem solved!

    Jerry

I have noticed the No costs Mod does remove most of the costs, but some items are not a zero cost.

Anyone know why...or how to have a true no costs setup?

    Thanks,
    Jerry

I had created a mod which changed the Train Fever town and street names to names from Wisconsin. Now, I want to convert that mod for use in Transport Fever.

Can someone help me with the requirements please? Things like the file naming, image size, and description to be included within the archive file for inclusion into the 'downloads" area.

My Train Fever mod was originally designed for mod manager or manual installation.

I see the TPF folder structure and the two file locations is the same as TF. I also think the requirements are different for Steam?

What are the steps and requirements to do so?

    This was my TF mod...

Wisconsin Towns (482) and Street Names

    Help please?

    Thanks
    Jerry

I see the Steam Workshop already has over 80 TPF mods ready to be subscribed to.

So...will the same mod be offered there and on the TPF.net site?

Which location do you think will be the better one to use?

Will a Mod Manager be the better option?

I have seen similar duplication in Skyrim as opposed to the Nexus site when it comes to mods. It gets confusing when the same mod is offered at both places.

Übrigens sind die Amis ziemlich doof. Präsidentsschaftswahlen am Releasetag von Transportfever abhalten. Welch ungeschicktes Timing...... :D . Wenn da in 10 Jahren gefragt wird. "Wissen Sie was am 08.11.2016 war ?", "ehm ja damals kam doch TransportFever raus, ansonsten kann ich mich an nichts besonderes erinnern...."

So...no need to blame ALL American's for the disaster of bringing Trump to the forefront of the elections. Many of us are doing our best to not see him elected.

The thing that really scares me is...take a look at what they did with Brexit. Everyone was saying it would never happen and look what happened there.

Anyway...I know I would have supported a bill before Congress to move the election so it would not compete with the release of TPF, but oh well. We are stuck with the bad timing. And anyway...if Trump wins...I will probably be moving to Toronto! Smiles.

And just because I am from Wisconsin...your "cheese" comment is apropos...but hope you are not calling me a "CheeseHead". Or am I being again fooled by Microsoft Edge's built-in Translator? Smiles.

    Jerry

    Hello all...

We have a couple of the new Diverging Diamond Interchanges (DDI) in Wisconsin, and they seem to be popping up here and there all across the USA. A very cool design for an interchange.

I have never been through one, but I am sure it's pretty simple to drive through. But I must say...USA drivers are slow to adjust to change. Many drivers here complain about them. For example, my partner refuses to drive to Oshkosh because she would have to maneuver three roundabouts to get there. Smiles...

This one has a good video explanation of the DDI.

This one gives a full history and explanation of the DDI.
    DDI Website

Is the DDI and the Roundabout possible in TPF?

    Jerry

    Don't worry Chris-tier...

Considering our history of stealing ideas and calling them our own, I am sure there will come a day when the USA takes over this site...smiles. It's the American thing to do, don't you know?

And I have to laugh at how Microsoft Edge translates the last part of your message as "...EU-only and there is a fuzz.‎"

    Fuzz?

Fuzz is the stuff on a peach or the face of a young man. Smiles.

    Jerry

Calm down guys. I was never complaining about anything.

Just asking questions. And if you didn't get the joke...I was kidding when I was talking about needing to do all that translating. Smiles.

And FYI...some people use smiley faces...I type "Smiles".

I completely understand the shipping charges thing. I have shipped my Bottle Trees (http://www.bottletreecreations.com) to the Caribbean, the Philippians, Great Britain and to six of the Canadian Provinces. I fully understand international shipping rates.

Just call my comments whining if you must...but was never meant that way. Call it my dry humor.

I have been visiting this site since I started with Train Fever about two years ago...and I appreciate all the work everyone does for the community.

And why would I want to start an English forum? This site is where all the experience is. And besides...the USA does not have all the train spotters like you guys do...smiles.

So...PEACE everyone. And besides...the EU should be happy we are trying to do our best to NOT elect Trump...smiles.

And did I hear someone say the USA is NOT the center of the Universe? It is to laugh!

And could someone answer the other question I asked please? How many other self-centered "Americans" belong to this community?

    Love you all!

    Jerry

I would find it hard to believe that there are few community members from the USA. I mean, the sim developers did release the USA patch, so there must be a market here for train sims.

And besides...I am sure there are others who struggle with their Bing and Microsoft Edge Translator so they can read this German website and read/contribute the forums! It takes a lot of effort to try to belong here! And this website is the only website pertaining to this sim, so what's a guy to do?

Anyway...Wouldn't it be interesting to see a breakdown of community members by country?

    Jerry

I just learned of the new Transport Fever Social Media Contest from my Facebook posts...and I reacted how I would think many of the USA community members might have reacted. This is the Facebook transcript so far...

My question after reading about the contest being EU Only:
"Why only EU entries? Don't forget about us here in the USA!"

    The Community Facebook reply:
"The problem is: we are a European fan community - from fans to fans and we have not enough money for the international shipping-cost. All merchandise products are paid by us. Sorry for this limitation."

    My reply:
"I have a feeling there are many USA fans who will feel bad unless something could be done. I appreciate your reason for the limitations, but I would also bet a simple recognition of what I am sure would end up being the superior (smiles) entries would suffice. Even if it was only "Honorable Mention", or some other "Prize" in lieu of merchandise, I am sure the honor of winning...or placing...would be appreciated.
And to help with what expenses you might incur to somehow include USA community members in the contest...I just donated 10 Euros to the community cause...smiles.
PS...my community website name is Heinekn."

So...what do the rest of you think? Just curious.

    Jerry Swanson
    aka Heinekn

I guess my joke was missed...

All my fault tho cuz I have never liked smiley faces so I tend to do things like type "...smiles".

And maybe I posted in the wrong thread (sorry), but I was only expressing my obvious impatience at needing to wait another 15 days or so before the sim launch.

You see...Some people drum their fingers...and some try to make a joke.

    Guess that's another reason I don't make my living as a comedian...smiles.
