XMPR versions will come soon™

Also Ale724 is coming soon™, just need the normal map, metal gloss, dirt and rust and finally a custom soundset!

XMPR version of that will come soon-ish too. It depends whether our repaint expert is able to understand the mess of my UV map

If not, I'll be able to do it myself in my own time.

I'm already doing the E626, the first loco in continuous current of 1928.

Then unfortunately I need to do another quick loco before the Ale660, the original mod that started all of this!

Also expect some surprises from other countries (just because)!

TAF trains will come eventually (even if almost everyone dislikes them)

There is a way, Mauri.

1) Open the Steam directory in your PC (found in, for example, C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\)

2) open the steamapp directory, then workshop, then content, then 1066780 (TPF2's ID), then 2130149022

*3) open res, then models, then model, vehicle, waggon

4) you can see various .mdl files. they can be opened with any text editor (blocco note)

5) open for example "fs_centoporte_grigio", then scroll down.

6) near the end there should be the lines "availability = { yearFrom = 1975, yearTo = 0, },"

7) change yearfrom value (1975) to whatever year you like

REMEMBER TO SAVE (it happens a lot to me) and close the file.

9) repeat for all the carriages you want

* From "res" this is the mod itself. Every mod has this directory structure. The content of the files (such as .mdl) may vary a lot from mod to mod. Every modder has it's own style.

yearTo is zero because it's impossible to go back in time, therefore service end for the vehicle = infinity

It is advised not to touch the game's files found in TPF2's main directory as it may brick the game entirely.

Trolleybuses would be excruciating long to develop, we need some sort of workaround like DomTrain did for trifase. And we aren't geniuses like him (but we're close!).

For now we'll concentrate on vehicles that the game allows us.

Nevertheless, if someone is kind enough to develop the infrastructure needed for trolleybuses that would be awesome too

This is a great source of drawings! I'm sure somebody will be interested in these!

About my Ale724, it swear it's almost over, but right now I'm fully into university exams mode, so no big news here.

Good thing is that I've basically learnt everything on how to make a mod

Thanks to the latest update modding should be feasable for basically everyone with enough patience (if people do this as a job it's not that easy!) and tools.

The double catenary pole gives me an idea to expand your 3 kV cc poles, because there are actually more variants (found in train yards and stations) that would be very iconic!

Hello! Today there's something different. I came up with an idea for the "badge" to insert in future mod's thumbnail. It is final, and it lacks some originality (especially on the right) but This is the best I've come up with.We already discussed about this and this is the best I've got at the moment.

Feel free to use it in your mods (or use your own)! The quality may be trash, if you like it I can refine this a bit more

Together with the fantastic news from RaptorArk and DomTrain, I must show something too: the Ale724 is near the end, only the polishing is left and it's ready to be published!

Quick update: le724 is "done". Only the le884 carriage between is missing and then it will be done!

I'd like to set the mod like this: 2 "locked" compositions (Ale724 - le884 - le884 - Ale724) and (Ale724 - le884 - le724) and free placeable versions. The reason why is that sometimes they would use the engine to power some aberrations like the next photo

Making the ETR 450 "Pendolino" is a bit complicated because I can't find high resolution schematics and there's a lot of details to replicate, but I think that the nose was a really tough part and that it came out fairly well. My plan is to make the pilot carriage, normal carriage, carriage with pantograph, central carriage (i think is the Cafe but I can't find any clue or image about that). With these I believe I would be able to put together the complete configuration

Can't you take inspiration from those Russian mods where they added various kinds of catenaries? Those were so handy...

ildeposito models are not something simple to convert.

We need to adapt them to TPF2, I tried once with the E424 and it was not simple (that is, RaptorArk was faster than me and he made it from scratch).

Secondly, I only tried to contact one of the authors (Renzo, that is) and he accepted and gave me all the instruments necessary. We may not be so lucky with the rest of the models.

Third, the models may need some degree of rework; some are good but others (especially the earliest) are obsolete (even some textures could have a bit of a love tap here and there)

Fourth, now that my knowledge has improved I may even say that the raw models (meshes) are like 1/5 of the work needed for a mod.

Fifth, I'm not excluding the idea, I only want to clerify that it's not easy.

For more info on how to convert a train simulator model into a mesh I could even write an article about it in the lexicon.

well... If you want to make trifase locos you must remember that trifase catenary is not possible to develop in the foreseeabe future.

After the Ale724 I'm going to make the E626, it was similar to the E428 first series but it's older.

Built in 1926, it was the first Italian 3kV continuous current loco.

As for me, my development of the Ale724 is going slowly but steadily. Every now and then I find myself stuck in a problem and I need to figure out what the hell is wrong but I'm confident I'll be able to release it soonish.
