The materials are still to be fine tuned my friends , only the cast iron fences have a proper material now. And there is a start on the roofing.
I do have some challenge here and that is
that 1. I want all materials, or at least 90%, to be suited for generic use in other (future) models.
and 2. I don't want to spend too much time on manual UV mapping.
I have solved this with a UVBox in 3DStudio which ensures me that the sizing is identical on all meshes (for the same colour) and hence 1 material for each will work. The con is that the UVBox has a size of 15x15x15m, so needs real high res for high detail and the source image will need to be fit for XY tiling.
My personal aim with these is to get more "Modelbahn-feeling" in the game and then a slightly plastic look is actually matching the real stuff. But of course the enhanced moddeler would not place them build out of the box without any added realism .
