  • I have had a attempt of building another mod.... I know this has to be here C:/Users/*****/AppData/Roaming/Transport Fever 2/fbx_import/", which it is. the mod name for example is newmod1.fbx. I go to model editor... do import and it's not there.

I must be doing something wrong.... I am sure someone told me once it had to have xxxx.lod1.fbx or something like that.

    Please can someone guide me

  • Never seen this error and I don't use Sketchup so can't help you with the settings. Generally spoken I would suggest to check this:

    • Try to export a basic object (like a not changed a cube) first, to check if the problem is caused by the export settings or the object itself.
    • As "export only current selection" is active check if you really have selected only the relevant objects before exporting.
    • Another common error (at least with Blender) is to have not all faces/parts of your object assigned to a material. So secure you have all faces assigned to a material and to be save better do a basic mapping for all parts.
  • Apparently it is an error that was generated when texturing a faulty mesh.

Export your model as a test without two-sided faces and without normal map

A simple way that has already helped me:

Export to another, similarly structured file format. I use the .dae format from Collada. Import the file back into your 3D program and check if you get any error messages.

    Another helpful way:

Exporting to the .stl format helps to identify mesh errors.

There are free online tools on the net that recognize and display the errors in the model.

If the import error is still there with the TF2 - .fbx importer, the construction should be checked for faulty meshes.

Occasionally, when deleting faces, small and incomplete meshes are left behind, which are often difficult to find.

    The most common mistakes are:

    Two-sided surfaces

There is at least one face in this mesh that has only two edges as its boundary. With this mesh (see appendix) errors will be caused in molding and painting.

Boundary vertex has too many edges

A vertex is shared by more than two boundary edges. This needs to be corrected.

    Have fun with TF2 ;)
