Hello, brand new member here so I realize perhaps this topic has already been covered. However, my question is.... Is there anyone out there who is developing a cross rail track for those tighter spaces or annoying sections where tunnels and bridges cannot go?

REALLY? That sucks..... this game is SO good. I play more hours a day than I should haha. The mods here are just out of this world.

That's not quite true. They would like to built it in TF1, but unfortunately it was not possible with the current engine without huge tags.
I think the biggest problem was the pathfinding.Possibly know @tomdotio more about that.
