Richtig.

Hi, I am new to modding, when I install the addon tool, there is a message shows "upgrade to 2.8x required"
I am using the latest version 2.82
Anyone can help me with this issue?
-
This addon is not compatible with Blender 2.8 and above.
-
Danke

So I spent a few days playing with this and I got it to kinda work with Transport Fever 2 in Blender 2.77a. I can import a built-in locomotive and export a copy which retains the model, metadata, and animations. Texture appearances change a little bit, but I think that this might be associated with Blender re-calculating normals (I can see using the TpF2 model editor that the copied models have different normals and tangents from the originals).
A few limitations:
- DDS normal map import does not work because the image doesn't have 4 channels (or something). Some models will be exported without normal maps when the originals are DDS
- DDS textures need to be flipped. I could not get the flip_image function within image_util.py to work like I expected (it was extremely slow and didn't actually change the way that the texture was applied to the model), so I instead flipped the UV mapping ( v = 1 - v ) on import if the texture is DDS.
Getting the lane exporter to produce a format that TPf2 can read will take a bit more work.

Looks like a nice work. If you need a Beatatester im pretty sure there are some of the modder interested
Just one thing, please do this as a seperate plugin and not overwrite any of the files from the original exporter. I still use "the old one" for exporting TPF models.

Wow, nice
Could you maybe also try to make it compativle with the new Blender 2.9?
-
Afaik many of the functions used in the script are not longer supported in blender 2.8+
I prefer to have a working script in a older blenderversion, instead a the long work of recoding for the newer blender.

Me too, a working script for TpF2 would be enough, but for the current blender version would be better, especially as I have started to learn the newer version as 2.9 has a new version that translates changes in the mesh immediatly to the uv
Sadly programming blender plugins isn't one of my skills nor do I have the time

Finally! Thats a good improvement. But i still use the 2.78c

I think I need permission from Merck and eis_os to post my version, since it is a derivative work. Does anyone know the best way to reach them? I guess I could post a diff rather than the whole plugin, but that seems less usable.
The script is for old blender because making it work with new Blender would be way more work. You can try it yourself if you want to prove me wrong!
I tried to maintain TF and TpF compatibility, but I didn't try to add cross-conversion functions (i.e. TpF->Blender->TpF is intended to still work, but TpF->Blender->TpF2 might not because some properties exist in only one game). I didn't do extensive testing of old functionality, so I may accidentally have broken TpF->Blender->TpF workflow, but if i did I expect that it can be fixed pretty easily. There aren't actually that many changes - it just took a lot of reverse-engineering of the scripts and the TpF/TpF2 game files to figure out what they should be.
