Although it is not described as such, station platforms effectively have compartments, and each one can only hold one type of good at a time. I guess that technically, each edge can only hold one type of good at a time.
Once there is one tool waiting on a particular edge, you can't put any machines on it until the tool is removed.
-
-
easybronko Nein, dann würden erst gar keine Waren auftauchen
doug How many? Is 1 module 1 edge/compartment? I would have 10 then.
Anyway, the platform seems to have enough space. This would raise the question why the machines or tools are distributed so badly to the edges.
-
Freight moves through the station on a first-in, first-out basis, and will not normally be moved around on the platform. New cargo added to the platform will use the first available space, even if that is on an empty edge and there is already another edge, with space available, that contains the same cargo type.
It looks like you have at least two lines using the platform in question. This leads me to conclude that cargo items of the same type will not be stored on the same edge if they are destined to different stations. I had not considered this before and I won't say that I'm certain about it, but is does look that way, based on your experience here.
If you can detect that the platform is in an overflow condition, you could try calling upgradeConstruction (or anything else to invoke the updateFn), as I believe that will regroup the cargo.
-
-
On that platform, every type has only one destination. Tools and machines are coming from South (blue line), stored at the platform and transported North with the black line, which stops at this same platform. For Goods, it is the opposite way.
-

Well, there is this:
If you really find it too unattractive to use, you could mod the stock buildings to actually hold waiting freight. I know there is a demand for this - I have been asked a few times, but I am just not interested in diving into the world of modular stations.
