Dear community, I had a brief talk with UG about how to distribute the Nordic DLC. UG is open for suggestions and I can see two alternatives here.
1) UG distributes the Nordic DLC as a free DLC through Steam.
+ Hustle free installation.
+ Great availability (GOG users?)
+ Great exposure and attention
- UG mentioned some paperwork (I'm not sure this is a minus, I guess we need some agreements on rights to distribute)
- GOG users? Can GOG and retail versions download it from Steam? How does this work?2) Distribution through Train-Fever.net
+ Less paperwork?
+ Update can be released at any time
- We are not reaching the full audience, especially the non German speaking.
- Less exposure
- TFMM, TFGM and any other mod manager needs to handle this as a DLC, not an ordinary mod. Some question rises on how much control do we have if it is released on Steam? How often and how much work is it to release an update?
-
meh
Release on TF|net is the easiest.
-
Maybe the easiest way, but I also think that an official release would greatly benefit the DLC.
But it isn't really my descision.

Yes, it is actually our decision as a community to have a wish here. UG are open to any suggestion, even to publish through Steam.
Personally I think we would get a bigger audience and recognition if it was publish through Steam. Potentially buyers would see that there are two free DLC:s available and the Nordic DLC as a showcase of what you can do with modding. But one thing wouldn't necessarily rule out the other option. We could probably publish on both Steam and Train-Fever.net, the question really comes down to how we manage updates.
I have to investigate how cumbersome it would be to do updates, once it has been published on Steam -
I meant that I don't have a say, seeing as I have not contributed anything to the Nordic DLC. But if you would like the entire community's input, how about starting a poll?
Options: Distribution via TF.net, distribution via Steam, other (comment!).
Just as an idea -
I would really like if it is released on steam, would make updates for the end user easier, as steam innstalls them automatically. If it would make it way worse for the creators however, I think it may not be worth it.

I think as a "DLC", it should be distributed through Steam. Or else it would be sort of a "mod pack" found on a 'hidden' forum for the most dedicated end users. What's the easiest for us the authors of the different models and mods should be second priority in my opinion.
Here's an idea. Let's say we have an update for things, yes, more 'work' to get the DLC updated through Steam because it has to go through UG. On the other hand, less work for the end user. Why not keep train-fever.net as an area to upload those updates, and IF there are any, someone (mediziner?) will - once a month tops - give the update to UG in order to update the DLC on Steam. Yes, a few hoops and hurdles, but.. Let's make it a quality DLC (with updates if needed) instead of a poorly done DLC with patches.

Frisch verpackt

Oh I really like that. That's the way to present new models! I'm getting greedy just looking at it.
-
"SJ B (I)" - Schweden ab 1856
"Litra B (I)" - Dänemark ab 1879
"Litra P (I)" - Dänemark ab 1882

Genial, dein Tempo

I have wanted to make a locomotive for TF for a long time. Perhaps now is my chance!
I think the SJ T43 will fit nicely into the history for the game. The T43 is the locomotive that (according to the Internet) helped Sweden move from steam to diesel. This could be painted in the SJ orange + gray livery if it suits the community. Among other choices, this amusing livery: http://www.sebtus.de/img_big/DK3700.jpg.
I can Make 3D models without problem, but I am not a graphic artist, so I may need help with the textures. I am also having trouble finding tutorials for importing models into the game. Still, I want to contribute my skill to this DLC.
