TPF1 --> TPF2 Konverter

I am having trouble converting TheRed´s BR151 from TPF1 using the converter.

Other mods have not been a problem, but this one refuses to cooperate.

I have tried reading the instructions for the converter several times in case I missed something, but I can´t see that that is the problem as other files work using the same method.

The converter starts to convert the mod, but once it seems to finish it crashes to desktop throwing the LUA Exception error.

Since the converter created a transfer_log I restarted the game and activated the mod, but then I got a CTD saying that some files are missing, but the files mentioned are in the corresponding folder as far as I can see.

I read that there could be problems with a few mods, so I tried creating a cleaner version of the mod.lua using the instructions in the beginning of this thread, but unfortunately that didn´t sort the problem either.

Can anyone help me find out what is wrong here, it would be greatly appreciated?

What speaks against simply using the TPF2 version of this mod, instead of converting it yourself?

That seems like a good idea indeed.

However the reason for why I tried to convert it from TPF1 was that I couldn´t find it in the TPF2 section of electrics.

Could You link me to it?

Take a look here

Thanks a lot MaikC, that made my life a lot easier!

Anleitung für den Konverter suchen+finden. Genau befolgen!

Z.B.:

After a fresh install (with newever game version) I tried to convert some assets what went well before, but does not work anymore.

I like to have a conversion of:
Weichenlaternen

Weichenlaterne

EF Segelschiffe und Küstenkutter

Steam tugboat

Can somebody convert this or explain why it doesnt work anymore?

Anyone knows why the converter problem?

Hello! I apologize for bothering everyone, but I was wondering if I could get a little insight into the issue I'm having. I've done some troubleshooting of my own and attached an image of the error I'm getting, as well as a link to the mod in question.

I have used the konverter tool to great success to bring a bunch of my old TPF1 mods that weren't brought forward to TPF2, and it has worked flawlessly with only a few exceptions. I am having a specific issue with the mod at the following location:

https://steamcommunity.com/sha…archtext=passenger+wagons

This is a series of passenger wagons that I understand were updated from the original Train Fever, but were given new updates, interiors, animations, etc., and re-released for TPF1. Some of the train cars in this mod are in the base TPF2 game, but not all (such as the double-deck car and the two on the left, for example).

When converting this particular package and following all instructions, the game will crash and display the attached error message. I've investigated and found that one of the lines referenced in the konverter script is referring to seats (line 1190, I believe). Could this be the issue?

Beyond that, checking the transfer log, the process appears to stop after converting textures, before the model files are handled.

I'm not super familar with lua script, and I've only had an issue with one other mod, but this particular mod is right now the only one giving me trouble.

Could anyone help me understand what might be happening here? At a bit of a loss as to what to do, or where to go to narrow down the issue.

Thanks!

Metzger28, the double-decker wagon has mesh errors, so you cannot convert. the rest works.

Glad to know the double-decker model was the issue. That was primarily the one I was working for, but at the end of the day, not a huge deal.

I had a few others here and there that I had used in TPF1 that also give me grief. There's a Metra Highliner for TPF1 that converts successfully, but used the wheel/bogey setup from the default TPF1 Metroliner, so it crashes (points specifically to this model) when running a map with it. I found the mesh/model files for this missing piece - I'm assuming it's a bit more involved to fix something like that?

Thanks again!

Can you help me with EF Segelschiffe und Küstenkutter

It gives no errors after conversion, but doesnt show ingame.

Johan

The converter is used to convert models (mdl) and this mod consists only of a few construction files, so there is nothing that can be converted. Note the mod dependencies.
